    Good 2iron?

It works out that my 7w is basically the same as my 3i (4 yds diff on avg) so thinking of getting a nice used 2 iron instead since I am hitting mostly irons off the tee right now with my avg 3i going about 215-235yds with roll and about 202 carry. My swing is not very good and I am trying to work on my irons first before I tackle my driver.

Would like a Mizuno and maybe a Nike iron...steel shaft...stiff flex...1/2" over standard length....2-3* upright lie. I dont want a blade though....either something like the MP-57 or Nike Slingshot I am guessing...some cavity but a little muscle to let me feel the shots.

Hitting X-20 clones and while they hit good and are forgiving...i cant feel miss hits good and sacrifice some distance with them.
    Recommendations would be welcome.....thanks.

You can't feel mis-hits with your X-20 2-iron? Are you kidding? How about this - when the ball smothers out there about 150 and never gets about waist-high, that means you hit that one like $hit.

Lloyd, I dont have a 2i with the X20 clones hence my desire to get one.....I am hitting 3i off tee now until I get my swing down better and can start working on driver swing and get good distance from X20 3i.....but want something for those long, straight, wide open Par5.

Since the only clubs in my bag that are not regular names are my irons....I figured I would buy a name brand 2i to throw in as my goal is new irons when I am hitting a certain score in future.

I hit a buddies TM irons, cant remember model, but they were blades or at least not a game improvement setup....on the sweet spot hits it was like butter....on the mishits it was felt all the way up my arm especially off toe. The difference was that with a smooth and slower (not as aggressive might be better term) swing I hit the ball better than with my X-20...so when it was good it was good....bad was fair but not too bad as long as I did a slower smoother more rhythmic swing.

So that is my reasoning.....I had hoped to get a couple ideas on a good IN THE MIDDLE of BLADE and CAVITY series in the forum and then go see if I can find a couple at the local shops to demo....then trade my Adams 7W or my 3i in on the club if it is new...or just buy the damn thing if used.

I realized that since I used my 2 iron about once a blue moon that it was a waste of weight and space.

and that is the very reason the hybrid was invented... thanks a lot mike.

just because you cant use one doesnt mean Brock shouldn't buy one... i mean if you hit it 230-240 with a big high draw everytime you'd keep it right....

well i will definitely demo any club before I buy one.....so whether it is an iron like the MP57, Nike Slingshot, Callaway X-20 or a hybrid iron like the Mizuno MP Fli-Hi only time and a demo will tell. LOL

If I hit a 2-iron 230-240 with a big high draw It'd be a 4-iron. In truth, hybrids were actually invented for people like me to use to outdrive people like you. Oh, the shame. Outdriven by a girly wussy club.

Besides, there's only ONE truly manly club in any bag, and that's DRIVER. Mine is actually so manly it's growing hair on the grip and farting in public.

I know this revelation stings a bit, so if you'd like to hit me with your purse, I'll give you a free shot. Just make sure you don't get the strap caught in your skirt, cuz we don't need to know if your drapes match your carpet, though I do believe JS would be moderately interested in your thong.

You do realize those TM Supersteels are about 1 club stronger on lofts than any real irons (MP-32's or KZG ZO), don't you?

of course he does... he plays a hybrid... he needs irons that help make him feel like a real man.. so irons that are a full club stronger are right up her alley..

hey FON does your husband play?

Yes, I know my Supersteels are lofted a club strong. That's why I don't need a 2-iron. I already have one with a 3 stamped on it. Boy do I spank that thing too. Long and high. Stops on a dime.

The 19H is in the bag because fairway woods are for LPGA players. I don't need no stinkin' FW to reach a par 5 in 2. Only little sweaty-palmed, girly-armed, small-breasted ladies such as yourself should use those. Of course, you could always move up to the reds with the rest of the shortknockers, then you could play the course with the same clubs I use - you know, driver, wedge.

    You're still away.

FON the course i play dont measure less than 7200... i wouldnt need anything but driver 7 iron for the par 5's at your spot... 460 is only a good par 4 for me i know its a barely reachable par 5 for you but for real men its just a par 4..

you didnt answer my question. does your husband play?

It may surprise you to learn that 460 is actually... driver, wedge. Next.

The difference between you and I, Mr. Quarter Pounder With Cheese, is that unlike shortknockers such as yourself, 340 is a nice par 3 for me. That's the power of Canadian beef.

One last thing, about the husband. That may be customary for you hill folk, but out here in civilization we're much more open to taking two unlike things and creating some sort of hybrid by mixing them. Don't be afraid. Some day you'll be man enough to bag a hybrid without your balls disappearing. Hybrid shrinkage is an embarrassing but entirely curable problem.

Omen... 340 is a nice 2i for me... in fact if its a front pin i might have to hit a slight cut if its tucked up front... get a little extra spin and snuggle it up tight...

Mike Weir would beat the livin' snot outta you so bad (he used to play hockey, after all) that you'd agree to play a full set of graphite shafted Hibores and like 'em. You'd even agree to putt with the Golfsmith NCC-1701 putter - and show it off to all the ladies. Heck, I bet you'd even bag a couple of those Alien wedges and put a pink Lady Precept in play. Mike Weir is THAT merciless. Just ask your buddy Eldrick.

As for the rest of your post... my numbers are YARDS junior, not FEET. We measure in man-sized units around here. Oh, and that putter you're bagging... if you don't mind, I need the oil dipstick back for my truck.

Not to interrupt, but I saw one of those putters last week and had to try it. You can't putt well with it when you're too busy laughing at yourself for using it. Good gift for the uber nerd friend we all know.

You shouldn't have a big difference gap between a 3w and 3iron. If you hit your 3iron 220ish then you probably hit your 3w 240-250ish. Just choke down on a 3w if you need to throttle down, that distance range is not worth an extra club at all.

dont carry a 3w....have 4w and 7w. my 7w and 3i are very close in distance so it is one of them I would be leaving at home.

going to shop today to swing clubs and out to range if the rain ever stops......
