Thread: to flex or not

    shaft question

Golf pro checks my swing speed at 110 mph. The driver I have is a regular shaft. Do any of you know if that type of shaft is ok at that speed?

the shaft. flex or stiff. he said the swing speed would help determine the shaft type.

ive never heard of a stiff flex shaft being called a flex flex shaft but w/e...

as for whether or not its the right flex... well that all depends on your transition... it seems to suit your SS fine but may not fit the way you load the shaft...

bear with me on terminology. I just had this idea that if you swing fast you would have some lag on the clubhead. this is all new to me so excuse my limited knowledge and lingo.

i think you already know this but just in case... shafts come in different flexes the most common are R (regular), S (stiff), and X (extra-stiff)...

most likely @ 110 mph a reg flex shaft wont work too well... i would look at a stiff and maybe even a X...

10-4. I will look into swapping it for the stiff shaft. does the lag time question make any sense?

    Flex?

My driver swing speed is similar and I go between an X and a S. Comes down to what you're comfortable with as far as the head is concerned. personally I go with the X b/c i feel i can control it better. Swing speed that high distance isn't the issue, it's fairways hit. But to each his own.
