Regretably, I only shoot sub-par rounds about 20% of the time and rarely crack into the 60's on a 6600yd muni I play 200+ times a year. I don't even think those stats would qualify me to even be an Assistant Club Pro anywhere, except perhaps Arkansas. But it was still a good way to start the year.

Nuff said. If Arkansas never produces another player on any professional tour, they will still have contributed more to the history and tradition of the great game of golf than the rest of the USA combined.

John Daly is golf, or at least Caddyshack and Tin Cup come to life. Arkansas never needs to make a contribution to pro golf ever again.

I chatted with John yesterday. He just won a tournament hosted by Bill Murray and he was very happy about it. It was a team format using the best drive. He said he lost 48 pounds. He is going to Europe and just put in some practice before packing.

People are still very supportive. Maybe he'll get it back on track with the PGA Tour later.

John said that he will be playing in the British Open.

stupid bot spammers bringing back old threads...

In general, forums are chaotic...unstructured...and the spam doesn't help. I took my vBulletin forums down about a year ago...just got tired of it.

woot woot! I've been playing just over two years now. Last weekend, I was out and had a beautiful drive to 80 yards from the pin. I grabbed my sandwedge thinking ima get it pretty close to the pin. To my dismay.. I topped it. The ball took a line drive to what I was thinking would be 60 yards passed the whole and in the water. After searching relentlessly for my ball, something told me to check the hole. If I hadn't actually marked my ball, I'd have never believed I had just made my first Eagle!!!! Think ima put down the golf sticks and quit while I'm ahead!!

Good to hear JD is heading to The Open. He makes golf fun to watch. Hopefully we'll see him on the PGA once that suspension comes to pass.

Incidentally, I played two rounds this weekend (Saturday & Sunday). My playing partners didn't keep score, much to my chagrin, so I dont know what exactly I shot. Probably a good thing too. I missed a lot of putts.

On Sunday, I played at Great River CC and shot a 78. The putter was working out much better. Nice to know I matched KP on a Sunday round.

Played in a shamble format tournament this weekend. I played good but the team couldn't put it together. I thought I would have won at least one of the two long drives but made it second on the list for both LD's. The winner turned out to be a 0.8 HC and was about 8" taller than me, could tie his shoes standing up straight, 32 years old (10 years younger than me) and played collegiate golf. Didn't feel too bad after learning that. He cut me by 10-15 yards on both drives.

The winning team had an ace on a par three which carded as an eagle for everyone. He won KP and the team won first net because of the ace. The butt head left without buying anyone a beer. He was on a guest team and I doubt they'll be invited back next year. A couple of the guys followed him to his car harassing him the whole way. The gentleman next to me said he hit a hole in one in a summer slam event and it cost him over $500 to buy the 130'some contestants beers. He also said it was a great experience. Too bad for the cheap ars3 guy. His hole in one will be tainted by the 5 minute walk of shame to the car with two half drunk guys belittling him for not buying beers instead of hoisting some cold ones with a group of fellow golfers. Dope!

Teeing off at 3:04, I figured we would finish easily even on a slow Sunday at McCleery (the local muni; Par 71, 70.6/129 from the blues), but when we arrived at the third hole -- the first par 3 -- there were already 3 groups waiting. Nearly half an hour waiting on the tee killed any chance of finishing 18.

Still, I played 15 holes in 6 over par; including 2 double bogeys and an eagle on the first hole.

And last two holes are definite birdie opportunities...

But it did get my handicap back into single digits: 9.7!

Great job Alan, but this is the round report thread for 2008. Posting sub-70 rounds in 2008 is a Larry move, which only furthers my theory that you two are one in the same.

You had him until you made the pot calling the kettle black move of referring to it as a sub-70 round.

Damn it! Sub 70, sub 80, it's all equally impossible when we are talking about Alanrsf.

I've now moved it to the correct thread.

And please notice I never called it a "sub-" anything.
