Why I will never use Michigan's Southern Swing Golf Package Again
Michigan’s Southern Swing Golf Package
Michigan’s Southern Swing – Our Medical Misfortune Increases Profits for Michigan’s Southern Swing Golf
Every year four retirees on fixed income from Ontario make a trip to Michigan to play five rounds of golf in May and again in October. This October, for the fifth time we had our golf vacation booked with Brian from Michigan’s Southern Swing. Three days before our trip, one of our members from Toronto, notified us that his wife was scheduled for emergency breast cancer operation during the middle of our scheduled golf trip, so he would be unable to attend.
Stan, our organizer immediately contacted Brian at Michigan’s Southern Swing. He sent three emails with no reply from Brian. On Tuesday, our second day in Michigan, Stan got a hold of Brian through his long distance line which does not work from Ontario. Brian said no problem, he would refund one set of green fees from our golf package and that we would still pay for the hotel. That was agreeable to us, since we were still using two hotel rooms.
After our golf trip over a month ago we have sent Brian six additional emails without the courtesy of him answering even one of our emails. Now, that is a total of nine emails with no reply. We also have not seen any refund during that time.
It is important to recognize that, Michigan’s Southern Swing gets charged by the vouchers which get submitted by the golf course. In each case the proshop adjusted the voucher to reflect only three golfers instead of four. They also asked us “Did you contact Brian at Michigan’s Southern Swing”?
Our golf trip consists of five rounds of golf and four night’s accommodations. Our commitment to Michigan’s Southern Swing varies from 3 to 5 rounds depending on whether we play golf in Detroit on our travel days. This year we played Gull Lake View West/Bedford and Glendarin Hills Golf Club in Indiana.
Since these courses are partners with Michigan’s Southern Swing we notified the Head Golf Profession at each of these courses about our problems as well us contacted all other courses we have played to inform them of the type of organization they are partnering with.
We will never again use Michigan’s Southern Swing to book our golf packages.
Again, remember, Michigan’s Southern Swing will keep your money, even though the golf course did not charge them for the missing golfer.
Is Michigan’s Southern Swing the kind of organization you want to donate your money to? I don't think so.
Also, since I started this campaign, I have been made aware that this is a common way of conducting business by Brian from Michigan's Southern Swing.

I kinda lost the will to live after reading the first couple of lines but i get the impression Michigan Southern Swing ripped of some pensioners.
Sounds good to me most pensioners in the UK are professional paupers who think they own the f ucking golf course. Cûnt's
GO MICHIGAN SOUTHERN SWING!!

Sounds like a good business model to me. Maybe if you fixed income Canucks saved a bit more you wouldn't be at the mercy of every Brian out there. Get back to work, you lazy pensioner or start living within your means.

Hei Horseballs
I live in Toronto, yet played 42 rounds of golf in the US last year. I guess that means I am living within my means. I also think thats a lot of work. Now how many did I play in Canada?

Why should Brian have to pay because one of your group backed out last minute? Maybe Brian's wife was having surgery while you were trying to skate your way out of your financial responsibility. Sack up and stop slandering the man.

You didn't read my review very well. What we were asking from Brian is to refund the portion that he did not even pay for. The golf courses charged back to Brian based on the vouchers which was changed from four golfers to three. Remember also, he told us he was refunding it.
The money is not for me but my friend. We payed Brian in advance. It's a good thing not every in Michigan conducts business in the same manner as Brian or we would never come back to help the Michigan economy.
Horseballs, I appreciate all your comments. It helps get the message across, so thanks for your comments. Keep them coming.
Also, this message is for the Michigan golfers to help them not get screwed by unscruples business people.

You got played, accept it. There are entire segments of the population that make their livings preying off the naivete of the elderly. There are also entire segments that make their livings preying off Canucks. Double whammy for your Canadian Bucket List Crew.

I didn't bring him down. He brought himself down by lying to us when my friend spoke to him.
I will be taking a very active role on this board to give him free advertising. Us retiries when we are not playing golf, we have a lot of free time on our hands.
I also accept the fact that there is two sides to every story. I am still waiting to hear his side. I would love to see him defend his position.
I enjoy golf in Michigan, Georgia, Hilton Head and of course all the expensive courses in the greater Toronto area

Since Brian isn't on this board, I'm taking the mantle of his defense. If I had the opportunity, and believe me I'm always on the lookout, I would scam elderly Canucks till the cows come home. Be it golf, insurance, some sort of wheelchair scam, whatever. He got you to plunk down some of your pension money on a phoney golf trip and you fell for it. Accept your defeat. And honestly, your fellow CBLC member would have just wasted the money on maple syrup or Advil.

I gotta agree here HB. A friend of mine from Italy called to say he had a load of tainted cheese he could sell to either Ontario or Nova Scotia. He asked me whether he should. I said of course.
We all need to check our food before we eat it. If a person's older and can't see well, it's classic Darwinism. We can't weaken the entire human race to save a few old people who can't see their cheese.

In the main i f ucking hate old people.
Whenever i play in the summer during pensioner play time they all look at me like i should be at work and not using the course facilitys during their time.
The only thing that keeps me going is the fact that all things being equal they will die before me, or get Alzheimers and forget where the course is.

That's the problem with pensioners. When they die off another group comes up to replace them. Plus, they are really into shoplifting and driving terribly. When someone steals from them (Brian), they get into a big internet hissy-fit. Hypocrites.

I'm glad to see people on this board have a sense of humour. Nice to hear from all these future pensioners. I just hope you guys don't have to work until you kick the bucket.

I'm already not really working. I am doing something that's like work because I want to.
Although today I'm not doing it and I don't want to.
But I could never just sit around and collect a pension. It's like Social Security, it's really welfare plain and simple. Other people are paying to give you a free ride. And you have the gall to go play golf with their money. Brian is just getting back what's owed to him as a productive working person. I fully support him in that. Justice is sweet, my friend.
I could never not work. Except today.

I'm only collecting what I put in.
It's nice to help my neighbour south of the border, especially those in Michigan because the economy has not been too kind to them.
So I would have to say my pension money is going out to help those who need it more than me, like Brian.

I just got done talking to him. Nice guy. We have a lot in common when it comes to fleecing fixed-income geriatric Canuckians. He said he'd give me your buddy's voucher if I can make it up to Michigan next summer. I said "Maybe", then he said "Fukk old people" and I said "Yeah." We laughed.

I'm glad someone was able to get a hold of him.
I learned a new word today. Thanks. Had to get the dictionary out to find out that I was a geriatric.
I just want to correct you on Canuckians. That refers to French Canadians and I am not one. I am one of those misplaced immigrants from northern Europe.

He's very accessible when not being hounded by penny-pinching pensioners from igloo-land.
Just to be clear, he said he doesn't owe you a dime and finds your persistence over a $10 voucher to be the subject of hilarity.

For a limited time I will offer your group the exclusive Southern Missouri Swing. For a nominal fee you can play three rounds of golf at any course in Branson after which you will end up in a hog lot with both Achilles tendons cut and covered in brown gravy. I hope that you enjoy the golf because you will be very much alive when the hogs start to eat you.

For your information, I am not near death, poncing off the state nor a loser.
I am here to provide information that a bloke like you may find useful and I am here to receive information that I may find useful. Obviously, you are here for something else.
You should be happy to have new users come in that actually provide something besides insults.
I am all for differences off opinion and welcome them.

Ontario,
I responded to your email today with my apology and explanation. I wanted to respond in this forum as well, since the information you are offering is incorrect and misleading.
When I was informed of the medical emergency upon your friend's return from golfing at our courses, I explained to him that I would be happy to help secure a refund for him. I explained to your friend that the courses and hotels are paid PRIOR to the golfers arrival - they do not get paid after the fact, as you have incorrectly stated. Because the courses and hotels had already received their payment, I would have to contact them individually to ask for them to refund the golfer's money.
I then had my own medical emergency, and was unable to contact the courses immediately - a circumstance I apologize for. Our business is small, and I am the only member of that business that handles these issues. Regrettably, my circumstances prohibited me from handling your friend's issue in a timely fashion - again, something that I sincerely apologize for. But, as I stated to you directly, I am addressing the situation now and will do everything in my power to secure a refund for your friend.
The Michigan's Southern Swing has been in business since 2002, and has an excellent record in customer service. For over 2 years your friends have been pleased with our service, using it each time they've visited our area. I am sorry that these series of events, have taken away from that.

I'll just bet you played golf every time you visited a doctor.. :-) If you played golf every time you visited a Canadian doctor, you'd play once every three years and have to sit in the locker room for two days before each round..

This was a really good thread. It's got a little bit of a Mike Pederson flavor in that the owner actually visited GR to defend his business. Maybe GR is so powerful that we lure other business owners to defend their products. Obviously Callaway doesn't care what GR thinks of their product.

This is definitely the world's no. 1 place for consumer information of all kinds, as long as it involves disfunctional and/or dishonest activity by a one man web based business offering a golf related product or service. Nothings else is even close, so congratulations everyone.

Speaking of internet sites. How much money can a site like Golfreview bring in to the owner? Does a website like this one actually make any money or is it just for fun? I see advertisements on the site so I would imagine it's got to bring something in, even though the number of hits can't possibly be that high.
I've got a friend who lost his job and he's been spending all of his time trying to launch two websites. He explained some of it to me and it sounds like it's very difficult to make any money from a website in today's world. Of course, there will always be the rare success like Facebook or Ebay but it's got to be much tougher today than it was back in 1997.
