So i get a $200 gift voucher for xmas from the wife to spend at a golf store (you know the present, i wish you would spend more time with me instead of playing golf but here's your present anyway!!). Problem is, in the last 12 months i've changed all equipment,shoes,bag,buggy etc and have come to the conclusion i don't actually need anything. Good option Sooner - she already has a starter set(which turned out to be a long term investment for the kids). I'm sure i can rig up a battery device into one of those two thumb together extra wide putter grips. Now i've still got $175 left.

You should get some leather iron covers (Texas style w/ tassles) and some golf sandals. Wear them with confidence. I don't do iron covers, but I love these sandals.

I got the Caddy Shack reference, that was where I was first alerted to their existence. I wasn't actually channelling Al when I made the post but I can see the parallel now. My ex-wife's close male friend got my son a Uroclub for X-Mas. I wasn't there, but apparently everyone started laughing and when he became offended, as it was intended as a serious gift, the group laughing became uncontrollable.

I suggested he give it back to this guy so that it can be returned for a refund, but that before he does, he should use it as a Defaclub.

Australia's wine production has been amongst the best in the world for years. And I find it difficult to believe Aussies would drink white wine. Why would anyone?

If truth be told about beer, German beers crap all over anything produced in Oz or NZ. Aussie and NZ beers are both good enough and easy to drink, but lack the body and flavour of somemof the German varieties.

Good call here, NAH. A good Paulaner beer in any flavor is a great choice and usually exceeds most other beers from every country.

This raises an interesting question. IMO 5% is the ideal strength for a good beer. Anything more and the flavour gets overpowering, anything less and it tastes like weak as water gnats pi$$.

I'd say 4.5% to 5.5%. I've had heaps of beers around 4.6% that were good, and Coopers red is about 5.6% and that's a great drop. American beers are around 3 - 3.5% from what I've seen.

The wife and I will somestimes escape the summer heat in Sacramento and go to Fort Bragg. That's the home of North Coast Brewery and makers of some fine brews. Old Rasputin is a really good dark ale at 10.5%. They limit you on how much you can drink while you're there but we befriended one of the employees there and he told us about the neighborhood pizza joint that the locals/regulars go to. OMG! They had no less than 40 microbrews on tap. Everything written on a chalkboards on the wall with the alcohol content next to the name. Everything from "Kilt Lifter" to "Death and Taxes" to "Arrogant Bastard"
We were like kids in a candy store. Between that and mixing it up with the locals makes for an outing we look forward to every summer......Oh ya, the ocean and scenery are always nice too....

I'm a big fan of stout too. There's a hotel in the wine region north of Sydney that has it's own micro brewery on site. They make their own dark ale there that is one of the finest brews I've ever tasted. It's about 6% and costs about double what a regular tap beer would cost, but worth every cent. They have about 12 original brews on tap there. Heaven for beer connoieseurs. One of these days I'm gonna visit a mate who lives near there and sit at a table and sample every one of them

If you like the original I'm sure you will enjoy the Pure. It has really taken the market by storm over here and has ripped the guts out the the Heineken & Stella Artois (both overrated IMO) market. A lot of Kiwi's don't like the original but love the Pure. Also it doesn't give the nasty hangovers that the original was notorious for. A word of warning though, don't confuse the Pure with a new gnats pi$$ mid strength version called Steinlager Edge. I don't know what they were thinking. It is the equivalent of Mizuno making cast OS POS SGI shovels.

My inlaws live about 2 miles from Magic Hat brewery in VT. They put out some decent stuff. Other than that, I'm all about British stuff. My dad likes German beer and always has some new Hitler brew when I go over, but it's hit and miss.

I'm not a fan either. The basic lager like Stella Artois is ok but overrated. All that white beer/wheat beer is absolute cr@p IMO as are all the girly flavored beers like for example the cherry flavoured Kriek beer. Only for chicks and f@gs.

I love Grappa! I have to be in the mood (read drunk) but it's great stuff if you get good quality grappa. I think we've had this discussion before Zo. I'm not sure I would want to start an evening out drinking grappa unless I didn't want to taste the food or I was at my in-laws. I wouldn't drink it around an open flame.

There's only a few liquors I don't like. First rule is it can't be sweet - no Liqueur, or schnapps. I can't drink Scotch. Don't know why but it makes me into a sour mean drunk and it's sad because I love it. I don't like to mix drinks, a martini or a Manhattan is about as mixed as it gets. I would rather drink whiskey neat then on the rocks. I almost forgot, Jack sucks.

Grappa is good - i had another drink with some italian people in sydney once - i think it was called lemoncelo or something like that which tasted pretty good. Mind you, on the same night i was drinking a chinese whiskey that was infused with a snake in the bottle. Tasted alright until they showed me the bloody snake then i could taste it all night - even tho i've never eaten one before!

Had to weigh in on this beer action finally....my most favorite Aussie beer was Castlemaine xxxx, I went through a big 4 X binge in the mid 90's....The kind of drinking I used to do in my better days was some serious crack one at 7 in the morning and be on a boat all day fishing, with no water and no food (until we caught fish) and the only way to sustain that action was with some kind of cheap American lager like Bud Light....I could drink 30 in a day easily, then actually talk a girl into sleeping with me that night..Oh my God I used to drink like a fu cking animal in my 20's.....I can't anymore, now I drink about 4-6 beers a night and it's strictly Coors original. I have to get up every day at about 4:45am and Coors banquet is the only beer that won't bother me at that time of day. If I drank 6 "micro" a$$ beer brews I would be
fu cked the next morning...Coors treats me right and I bet it will treat you right too!

I'm not a fan either. The basic lager like Stella Artois is ok but overrated. All that white beer/wheat beer is absolute cr@p IMO as are all the girly flavored beers like for example the cherry flavoured Kriek beer. Only for chicks and f@gs.

The biggest problem with Stella, at least herein Oz, is that insist on selling it in sissy faggy looking farking glasses. No Aussie homophobic beer drinking slob could possibly consider it.

Zo, if I start racing top fuel dragsters and need some extra speed, I'll ask for a recipe. Maybe it's just the quality of the homemade stuff I've tasted, but that's about all grappa is good for IMO.
