    Wagering: The master vs. Irishgolfer

OK - the long awaited Irishgolfer vs. The master event is upcoming.

    1) We all get to see if The master is for real - or a figment of Spank's imagination.

    2) We get to see what kind of game The master really has...

I suggest that The master posts his index here and we put him head to head against Irishgolfer in an 18 hole match at Portstewart.

    50 GPB Medal championship.

I will act as treasurer and bookmaker.

They will play straight up - no strokes.

    Can I get any takers???

Hmmm. I've seen IG's swing and it's solid. The master talks a good game, but is there anything to back it up? I'm going to consider this one.

    Ahem The master

If I can get a lend of Monty's clubs I'll beat you sideways with them. There's a certain way to play Portstewart. More than length or youthful exuberance can cope with. I'll order up a little wind, throw in some squally showers and you'll be easy pickings. Did I mention the badgers? ;)

Game on then? I'll bring the camera. I might even inform the local press.

Maybe The master can bring his nanny and you can get her in a few pictures too.
there are probably only a couple of golfers that should refer to themselves as the master. I am sure it is not anyone on this board.

The master - I will wager 10 GBP on Irishgolfer - straight up - medal play.

    1) You will play at Portstewart.

    2) The match will be attended by another Portstewart player who will make rulings as necessary.

    3) You will play as many holes as daylight allows at the time of the match.

    Are you on?

    Hell no!

There is no freaking way in hell that The master will beat Irishgolfer!

My money is on Irishgolfer. I do give props to The master for playing though, but I think he will be a no show; if he does play, he gets beat down like a clown.

Hey Irish, give him a swift kick in the pants for me.

Need other people to do you're dirty work spanked you just know you couldn't beat me in a fist fight. I can't wait to play Irish Golfer and you will see the master is for real and when he comes out on top he will create a new thread which will be called the winners speech. Even though IG is a very good player and has a very good swing the master will come out on top you will all see.

The Bater must have atheletic skillz. Only those with skillz-- and those with mental disorders-- talk about themselves in 3rd person (Bater, the English textbook will cover persons as they relate to our language. You'll know what I mean then).

With that said, tho. I'm going with IG. This time, at least, the nice guy will finish first.

I plan to work on the mental side of The Master's game.

The weakest part of my game at the moment is generating backspin on my 1 iron and playing the driver off downhill lies in the rough. Outside that I'm good to go. ;)

My take on this? "The Master" is a no show, because I suspect he is a fictitious character. It would be hard to believe that any one person could be so young, such an expert golfer, so arrogant, yet so ignorant of the English language and syntax. His character resembles a caricature; so one or two dimensional only. He reminds me of a functionally illiterate "1 iron".

I was thinking the same thing. The wager should be whether he shows or not. I am guessing no also. But you didn't hear it here first.

Couldn't we just flush him? If this happens, IG better take him (no pressure) to preserve the English typing people of the worlddddddddddddddd.

I'm bringing a Dictionary and Thesarus with me for the match. If The Master gets a few holes up on me, I'll start conjugating verbs or switching tense to confuse him, or just throw an "i before e except after c" at him at the top of his backswing. Or maybe just thow the books at him.

I expect a tight game, but I feel that the first few holes at Portstewart will have The Master wondering what planet he is on. I'll be enough ahead at that point to hold on comfortably.

I expect it to be a tight game and you would need to shout things in my backswing if you want to win my game plan is to go out there and make as many birdies as I can and hope it's a couple more than IG makes. What are the greens like at the minute IG not sure whether or not to use my 2 iron or rescue.

The caption for this pictures reads...

"Following The Master's second shot in from 192 yards with a 2 iron, IrishGolfer stiffs his 2nd shot on #2 with a lob wedge (112 yards). After an immediate concession The Master leaves his own putt for a half woefully short . He storms off the green shouting profanities, which IG lights up his second cigar of the day. IrishGolfer goes 2 up after two.

    It gets better... ;)

Try installing TransMaster v1.1. It translates all of The Master's posts into perfect English.

I can't wait until Irishgolfer proves that this little kid doesn't exist... and if he does he will spanked like the spoiled little brat he is... his hand strength must be that of a 9 year old girl...ain't no way he is beating Irishgolfer.

Did I mention I have my money on Mr. Irish?

spanked you're the one going about saying I going to beat you're crap in. Clearly you're a *** who has to pick on 15 year olds because you couldn't fight anyone you're own age. I would still kick you're ass in a fight any day. And when I play IG you will see Im for real.

Good point The master. I suppose after a good fight, it is time to make friends... In real life I would not kick your *ss but I would kick your father's *ss instead.

I am cool with you now, but my money is still on Irishgolfer. I hope you play as well as you can, but I just think Irishgolfer will win.

    No hard feelings.

The withheld number was Spanked. IG gave you number out to all of us so we will take turns calling you. Expect mine about 3 am your time.
there are probably only a couple of golfers that should refer to themselves as the master. I am sure it is not anyone on this board.

Check out the thread - IrishGolfer v. The Master - The Result

Modesty prevents me from saying who handed who their ass on a plate. And the shame of it, the wager was never honoured by the defeated party. To this day, a turkey is still looking over it's shoulder wondering when the axe will come. (Hence my avatar).

A rematch is planned for March, the time in The Masters's hood. My decidedly good form of late may set the bookmakers off in an early frenzy of odds. Although I suspect The Master will shine round his home course (and he is practising like crazy!). I expect a close game.
You know me you know the score. Keep them satisfied in bed and they wont bother your golf - wise words from The Master, Feb. '05

I hope you're not considering an avatar change even if you do get the turkey. I smile every time I see it.

That's the understatement of the year. I have been to the range once this year. But I must say i'm looking forward to it.

I believe that would mean it was an overstatement
