It'll be easier for me this was just because ill be giving lessons and updating it at the same time so ill either be posting via my blackberry... Or through clearwire... Just for efficiency sake on my part...

Also itlll catalogue the match a little in an easier to follow pattern... After the match ill unlock the scores thread... And merge these two...

Have fun, gentlemen. I will be leaving for Zo's favorite place in an hour and won't be able to view the match. By "Zo's favorite place" I mean NYC, not Hillary Clinton's vag.

Don't be so sure. She could fit Manhattan in her cooch. I hope not while you're there.

This is great stuff. Downunder in NZ the interest is huge, people have stayed up all night or slept next to their computers in anticipation of this monumental event.

I don't know who to back. My head says the guy who shoots darts with the Eye 2's but my heart says I gotta back the GFF guy.

    Thanks for the updates Pingman.

    Good luck guys!

Noshuz 2 up thru 6 against the greatest ball striker the world has ever seen?

This could be the greatest upset the world has ever seen. Where's Soonerbs on this? What odds was he giving?

    Isn't FD just giving Noshuz 5 a side, i.e. 10 shots?

    Not really Kiwi

FD has already got the excuses going " i havent played recently/the weathers been bad/i have been busy" etc etc

IF this was true giving 10 shots to Nosh will be tough, even for someone as great as FD.

I wont be giving BD any shots, in fact i suspect he should be giving me 5 a side

Champions don't make excuses. Pretty sure Phil or Tiger could spot us 5-10 a side from the tips and they'd still beat us.

Their pace of play is a little below my expectations. Pure ball strikers like FD should be playing each hole in under 10 minutes.

Maybe it took FD a few holes to find his groove but he is now shooting darts at the pins with his Ping Eye2's.

Is he also using a Ping Eye2 Lob wedge with the illegal grooves? Are those things as good as a Scratch wedge?

Normally the Ping wedges don't hold a candle to the Scratch wedges, unless they are rare or something and cost $600. Otherwise you can't play all the shots.

GFF wins with a solid 4&3.

That's a huge loss for the most soliud ballstriker ever. FD may not ever show his face again.

I wonder if FD will be interested in a set of GFF clubs now that Noshuz has beaten him soundly. So much for Ping Eye 2s.

Sounds like either FD played like a c unt or the handicapping may have been a little out.

Do either of them hold an official USGA handicap or is this a "Liarry job"

Can't he be the best ballstriker in the world and still be an overstating windbag?

    actually, 4 and 3 isn't a clock-cleaning, probably was a decent match.

    Sounds pretty conclusive to me.
I suppose Famous has been talking up his game so long many of us began to believe it.

Well, I have lost to Noshuz. Very good guy and we had a lot of fun. He beat me fair and square. For those of you who don't know, I gave Noshuz 5 strokes a side and we played match play. It was going back and forth for awhile. On the 6th hole he hit a hybrid to 3 feet and birdied. Meanwhile, I hooked a 7 iron into the bunker and had a fried egg. It started raining on the 2nd hole and didn't let up ever. The greens had puddles on them by the 12th hole and we were pretty soaked by the end of the 15th hole. Noshuz handled the weather much better than I did.

After the 6th hole, I went par, birdie and we were back to even. He made 3 putts about 12 feet in length which was very clutch. I'd say the course was playing 30 to 40 yards longer per hole due to wind and rain. It was pretty miserable by the 12th hole. By the end of the round I wanted to break his hybrid club. He was ON with the hybrid. I had another birdie on the 12th hole that brought it back to me being down by 2 but after that I never recovered.

After the match we had lunch and I bought him a turkey sandwhich and a beer per the agreement. I shot 80 and he shot 81. Pretty pathetic for me I must say. He has some good photos to post. I'm still the greatest ball striker who ever lived who can't deal with bad weather. Later.

I'm a 3.7 index. Not to give excuses but the weather was pretty bad. Puddles on the green, wind, an asian dentist named Steve joined us and my Ping Eye 2's got wet. Oh what the hell I got my arse kicked.

I know that 5 a side was the deal, but what kind of cap does Nosh carry? A little sand-baggage maybe? I mean, if he shot 4 under his cap in wind and rain on a course that he does not play regularly, that's pretty rare. I'm not accusing, by the way, just askin'?

Wuzup Bruthas! WOW! It was wet and windy today. We got beat up. We ended up walking back after 15 holes. It just got to the point to where it just wasn't golfing. It started raining about the 5th or 6th hole and just got harder and harder. What's the ruling for 15 holes? I know you can post a score after 13 holes but I forget how to score it. If FD and I were to par out the last 3 holes I would have shot an 81 and he would have shot an 80. That would have been my best score at that course. Famousdavis is a really good ballstriker that just had a bad day. I've seen it happen to my low handicap friends before. Oh well so he's human. It was brutal though I'll be right back with pictures.....

Puddles on the green is no fun. You can't judge speed cause you never know if the water will slow it to a halt or just rooster tail behind it. Hard to be consistent.

Actually, we walked in after the 16th hole, the par 5. By that time there were lakes forming on the course. I think we have to take pars on the remaining two holes for handicap purposes. Good match brutha'!

Here's the pics. We would have taken more but once it started raining steady we were more focused on trying to stay dry. FD Has a few more.
And I just want to thank FD. Your ball striking made me raise my game to a level that I thought not possible. the Golf Channel has already called me 3 times and Nike wants to sign me to take Tigers place. I'm tempted just for the money thing but I really love my MIZI GFF GI SHOVELS BABY!!!....
Thanks for all the support and coverage while we were out playing. I laughed my arse off reading it all! Time for hot tub and sport drinking!.....

I don't want to hear any b!tching about the rain, guys. That course is covered in green grass!! Who cares if it was raining, you can still hit the ball. If it were raining at my home course, you'd have to golf in galoshes . . . . .

That's why we didn't DA. Why give you hounds any more to bark at other than what we have??
But seriously, the rest of you that live close together shoud think about playing a round and posting scores/pics. You don't have to post anything incriminating if you don't want to like we did. It was fun talking to some one from GR. We had a blast talking about you freaks!
Thank you all and especially Famousdavis. You made my day......

Actually, it's very odd to see someone in real person after you have this picture of them in your mind looking like their avatar. Sooner, I have you pictured as Val Kilmer and Dave is the Family Guy.

Fark, that course looks like a goat track. From the look of that photo, I'd be worried about six toed hillbilly's running out of that construction that passes for a greenskeepers shed and making you squeal like a pig. Did you guys play in California or west Virginia?

    Nice Caddy Shack reference KC.

The photos make it look worse. It's actually a pretty nice course. It used to be the military course for Mather Air Force Base. You also have to remember that it's winter time and it's been raining here constantly so it hasn't been maintained lately. We did have some Turkeys on the 14th tee that I took a photo of. They're all on the blackberry so I'll download tomorrow. Nothing much more than what Noshuz took. We did find a moonshine shed.

You can talk it up all you want, but pictures don't lie. It looked as flat as a tack, and if that small flat green with no bunkers is an example of the course architecture, it is sadly lacking.

BTW, what scores did you hackers hit for the 15 holes? 16, 17 over?

Are you kidding me? Hell, at least they had grass, and it was green! We will not have green grass for at least another month and maybe more the way our Winter has been this year.

Well... I'm a little disappointed, personally.

You guys went through all the trouble to set this up and got rained off the course. Not exactly the scenario we'd all hoped for. I really would like to see an official 18-hole rematch if you guys don't have a problem with that...

Besides - I bet my life savings away on FD, and the boy dropped the ball on me. There are only two possible outcomes in this scenario. Rematch and recoup my losses, or cement shoes in whatever size FD wears, and some "swimming lessons" to break them in. I'm guessing a rematch in fair weather sounds like the better option.

You guys deserved better than this. GR deserved better than this. Get back out there and do it right in a few weeks when you know the weather will cooperate.

Anyways, congrats to noshuz on the victory, and I thought the double third digit shot was pretty clever and up to GR standards.

    Thanks for trying, boys.

Newsflash - I found out today that I can still swing a club just fine. Had the Momentus out for a little while with no pain. It's a little weak but I'll be fixing that in rather short order now that I know my shoulder is good to go.

I was waiting for some comments about Shuz spectacular sartorial faux pas. Not only is he dressed in denim jeans and a cheap metlife windbreaker on a golf course, but if my eyes don't decieve me he is also wearing saddle shoes. And there is more than a hint of a mullet pushing out of the back of that hat. NS, your only defence was you were playing on a paddock and what you were wearing was probably standard dress. But as a representative of GR you dropped the ball badly. Saddle Shoes?????

I'm a 16.2 that is just starting to get my game together. The lowest HC I've had was just over 10. I also did make some very clutch shots that surprised even me. Like I said, the best I've played there was an 84.

I agree, a rematch, under better circumstances seem to be in order here.

I believe FD has spent too much time trying to WALK on water when he shoulda been practicing in it

In all seriousness, I doubted this event was even going to materialze...and I give ya both props for following thru with it....

    Congrats!

Come on NAH! That was winter wear! I new I was going to get wet and muddy and I don't have rain pants. Yesterday was definitely not about fashion. It was survival! And sorry, no mullet. A full head of hair thank you very much. As for what we look like, I've been told I look like Fred Funk with longer hair and FD looks like.......A little like Dana Carvey. I doubt I spelled that right but you probably know who I'm talking about.
FD Have you ever been told you look like Dana? I didn't even think about it until I saw the pic of the two of us on the 1st tee box. The way you were flipping the bird was dead on Dana.......

remember, we had a kid named NXTtourplayer or somesuch, he came over from central Dallas to play Hackberry Creek with me when I was still a member there a couple years ago.. good kid, respectful (means a lot to me now that I'm almost fifty :-), HELLUVA golf swing.. got distracted easy, girls on the cell phone, etc., not a great short game, but boy I wish my swing had looked that polished when I was his age and on the college team...

anyways, this SHOULD be a regular sort of thing here for sure.. maybe we can do group events by region or something.. no Canucks are ever coming all the way down here to Texas, so I reckon I'll have to travel a bit farther than Thackerville.. :-)

Never been told Dana Carvey but I have been told I look like Luke Skywalker when I was younger and also Peyton Manning ( a much smaller Peyton Manning). I would be fine with a rematch but I think we should wait until there's literally no chance of rain. That was horrible out there on the backside. We could play the exact same course, same strokes, etc. It would be easier to provide updates as well without holding an umbrella and a towel. Taking a cart would be a good idea as well. Easier to post updates. Noshuz, your thoughts?

Well, you guys certainly are to be congratulated. I've worked with photoshop but I'm not sure I could make it look like there was water on the greens. So kudos.NS. you're either to be commended for really stepping up under pressure, or a huge sandbagger. And for a microwave sandwich, no less.

Yes! Would absoultely want to play again! Like I told you on the course, I like playing with guys better than me. It makes me better. The guys I play with every week don't even have an online hc but if they did, they would around 20 and 30 hc's so I don't have anyone I can play on a regular basis to challenge me. Whether it's a "match" or not FD, it doesn't matter to me. You already know that beating you isn't high on my priority list. I just wanna play mon! I got to looking at the waterlogged scorecard this morning and figuring things out because yesterday I was just trying to play and hit shots but if you hadn't given me strokes we were even after 15 holes in match play. The 16th hole was just a joke and I don't remember if we even truly finished that hole.

I'm no sandbagger Zo. I just had a good day in challenging conditions. FD has a pic on his blackberry he took of me standing in a puddle on the 13 green. That's when we really hit the saturation point and literally everything was wet. The turkey sandwich did suck but I'm trying to eat healthier......

I thought you were playing a twosome, didn't know Camp Freddy hit up on you, so t speak.

Shuz, you still haven't come up with an acceptable explanation for the saddle shoes. And don't try because there isn't any.

LOL! Yer such closet h.omo with all the fashion flaming!
When I first started this "more serious" golfing 6 years ago I didn't like the saddle shoe look but it kinda grew on me. Hell I never even wore golf shoes until 6 years ago. So sorry for all the light denim, saddle shoes and full head head of hair boyz. I didn't mean to offend anyone!......

I haven't tried Photoshop on Blackberry photos, so I'll have to trust what you're saying, NS. As for the saddle shoes, unless you're getting pumped daily in the back of the pews by a dozen or so Catholic priests, just don't. It's like a grown man wearing a diaper. It should be the law that if you wear saddle shoes, you have to use the crutches, too.

Unless you're on a mission to look ridiculous, get some adult, non-ass rape shoes.

Actually, we played a threesome. An Asian Dentist named Steve joined us. I asked him if I could call him Wang and take photos but he just gave me a blank stare. He actually hit it very well for a supposed 15 handicap (the asian guy).

Noshuz, we have to keep it as a serious match because that's what makes it fun for everyone else who's watching the progress of the match online. Next time we can take a cart so I can provide better updates/commentary and photos.

I'll bet Steve was hillarious. Some of the funniest people I've ever met have been Asian dentists. You just never know what they're going to do next. There's an Asian dentist at my club who's constantly telling jokes, but laughs uncontrollably just before the punch line. Then he'll say the punch line but you really can't understand it because he's still laughing too hard. Before I understood the Asian culture a little, when he told a joke, I thought he was having a nervous breakdown.

So again, sounds like you scored.

Sounds good, although I'd want to meet Pat Dempsey, maybe bring Rick and have a fousome. I can arrange the bungee jumping afterwards. There's nothing like ex-pro athletes and long drive champs screaming like a baby.

By the way, I can judge how long someone hits it by the way they wash my car. Maybe Pat could do that while we golf. I'll buy him a microwave sandwich afterwards.

Congrats on the big win Noshuz. Thanks for carrying the GR GFF Torch to glorious victory, not that we ever had any doubt that the mystical powers of GFF would have any trouble defeating some cast POS chopper paddles like the Ping Eye2's.

Hey FD, you gonna come to your senses, see the light and get yourself some Mizuno blades now after the @ss whomping you were handed?
I chose the road less traveled.

Now where the f#ck am I?

Thanks for doing the update thread, Pingman. Above and beyond typical mod duties.
I must admit, I was checking this thread while I was traveling on Friday and getting a good laugh.
Just a few observations. Noshuz, you must be a sandbagger. To shoot well under your cap in horrid conditions while wearing jeans is a huge sandbagger move. FD, ditch those Ping Eye II's immediately. They are clearly holding you back.

I'm waiting to go to work to try to get them from my Blackberry to my computer as I never take photos on the Blackberry and don't know how.

I did go to Haggin and I tried the Mizuno MP-62, Wilson FG Forged and Cobra S2 Forged. The Mizuno felt heavy compared to my Pings (makes sense) and I actually liked the Cobra S2 Forged the best. I think it was the Nippon shaft. My ball flight was much lower with the Cobra S2 Forged, which is what I need.

Nope, No sandbagging HB. Just got lucky and the stars aligned for me that day. The best I've ever shot there was an 84 and that was nice weather. Maybe it was the denim......
And yes. Thanks Pingman. I got a good laugh reading the updates when I got home!

Do you keep a real handicap or just approximate? Wouldn't a 16 handicap usually score above 90? Rare to see a 90 shooter go out and shoot an 80 in bad conditions.

Yeah, the 16's I know have never sniffed 80 even in ideal conditions. We're talking an occasional 85 and a bunch of 90-100's.

I just do the on line one. I usually shoot high 80's to low 90's and have been in a slump the last few months but made some very positive changes the last 3 weeks or so. I was a 16.2 as of February and as low as 13.4 in April of last year.

Hold on. So you are saying that GFF includes the Mizuno MX-200 shovels? I have to say that i am getting closer and closer to buying some forged cavity backs. I tried the Cobra S2 forged at the range and really liked them. However, I went to the Cobra website to look at the specs and the PW loft is 43 degrees. That's 7 degrees stronger than my current PW. I also tried the Wilson FG Tour and have to say that it's the best looking cavity back I've seen. The FG Tour PW is 47 degrees. I guess that explains the difference in trajectory.

FD, you need to get some blades bro. Don't mess around switching between paddles.
