I'd like to know how many of those have the words "ping eye 2" in them. Who's our resident thread/post historian & statistician again?

Congrats FD. I just joined the 1000+ club myself. It is a truly special moment that you will cherish forever. Even though you aren't quite the GR legend that I am, I thoroughly enjoy your posts. I would insert some kind of smiley face, but the fact that they are totally queer prevents me from doing so.

Gentlemen, GHD and Dorkman: Thank you all. I'm honored that you recognize me as a leader on this forum. Since my joining I've noticed that membership is up and we have more daily viewers. More people (including pros) are palying ping eye 2 irons and I'm sure that will continue to grow. I'm happy to share my popularity with all of you. Most of you won't come close to achieving what I have in golf but its my hope that I can inspire you with my greatness. In short....you're welcome.

The real criteria for veteran status is 1,000 posts. Nothing more, nothing less.

FD has earned full veteran status: he has character, he flames well, he takes flames well, he enlightens, he bullshites and he has survived 1,000 posts. I agree . . . . .

Congrats on the 1,000 Famous. You seem to have clocked them up in no time, almost as prolific as NAH.
I still don't believe you are selling the Ping Eye 2's though. I'll believe when I see it and Noshuz can verify it at the rematch!

From the badlands came Famous Davis, he lived by his knife and the gun.
He'd cut you just for standing, and shoot you if you tried to run.
He was as big as a tree, and did what he pleased, and everything he did was bad.
They said if you was to kill him, it'd only make him mad.
From the goodlands came the cowgirl, Patti was her name.
She was hot on the trail of that killer on a moped she called Flame.
Cause the killer had killed her daddy just for spittin' in the road,
And you only had to kill her daddy once to get that girl p.o.'d.
Yippee-i-ay - Cow Patti!
Yippee-i-ay - Cow Patti!
She rode into town to find the man that killed her daddy!
Yippee-i-ay - Cow Patti!
Famous Davis hit town at daybreak, ate the door off the local saloon.
He started to drinkin' and you could tell he was thinkin'
There'd be a showdown soon.
Patti hit town in a cloud of dust, old Flame was buzzin' like a saw.
And the whole town got quiet as a church when Famous Davis stepped out for the draw.
Forty shots rang out. Forty people fell.
Patti and Famous Davis missed each other but they shot the town to hell!
Famous Davis took a step toward Patti, said, "It's time I gunned you down"!
But he slipped in something that was laying in the street
And was shot before he hit the ground.
Yes, Famous Davis slipped and it cost him his life
And Patti said as she raced out of town:
"You got to watch your step, when you know the chips are down."
Yippee-i-ay - Cow Patti!
Yippee-i-ay - Cow Patti!
She rode into town to find the man that killed her daddy!
Yippee-i-ay - Cow Patti! (Bill L)
You zinged me FD I'll never be the same.

It's going to be awhile brutha. Having some medical problems. Remember when I ask you if you wanted a beer and you said that you don't drink? Well neither do I anymore! It seems my drinking habits, which really weren't heavy, gave me a moderate case of pancreatitis. NOT GOOD! It may be galstones but we'll see. Anyone else have this?
Anyway, Doc said I shouldn't even work out for a couple weeks until the pain is totally gone.
Also, I'd rather not burn another vacation day for golf. At least not in the near future. Can we play on a weekend?

LOL - I had stumbled across your reviews from time to time and to be honest I thought you were some kind of flaming troll that had probably never even picked up a golf club in real life!
What was it that made you decide to join our illustrious forum after all those years in the review section wilderness. I noticed that Edgey was impressed with one of your reviews and invited you to join the forum. Was that the vital spur?
I chose the road less traveled.

Why go to that much trouble when you can just pick up some road kill on your way to the course.

I think I had originally stumbled upon the site while searching for golf club reviews. I used to post serious reviews but then realized that there really isn't anything useful in a golf club review. Look at the reviews...one scratch golfer loves a club and another hates it. Plus, I don't know why they have a value rating. Value has nothing to do with a club's performance. Edgey is the one who posted a message to come over to the forum and so I thought I'd try it out. I like this forum because it has sarcasm, good humor and we don't take ourselves so seriously. A breath of fresh air.

I think we ought to have an "moment of silence" and recognize that despite the relative improbability of such an event, it's evidently possible to have posted 1000+ times without saying much of anything.

Nice new avatar! Suits you much better than the previous one. OK maybe the Ping Eye2's are great, functional clubs but even you have to admit that they butt ugly looking things.

I don't think they are ugly at all. What's ugly are those irons that have plastic inserts in the cavity. Tacky as well.

Every parent thinks their baby is beautiful.
Just make sure we get the review of the new Wilsons before every other reader of the review section. I'm thinking that if you tried hitting a few of the other classics (I know you are aquainted with the fg17's) you may not be quite so vehement about your pings. I recently hit some TM300's. Absolutely beautiful looking and feeling forged cb. a true modern classic.

I don't have a thick enough skin to regularly interject my opinion here but, in the interest of perhaps obtaining 1000 posts one day myself, I would like to offer the possibility that your condition could be caused by playing golf in the rain. Have you done that lately?

Who makes the TM300? Taylormade? OP, I have tried many different sets of irons. I have played a few rounds with Mizuno MP-14's, Mizuno MP-30's and I actually played with a set of Mizuno Grad irons for a year. I played with Titeist 962b, Titleist 990 and Titleist 762. I played the Callaway X-12 irons for a few months but actually lost distance vs. the Eye 2 (strange because X-12 lofts are so much stronger). I thought the X-12 was a great feeling iron. One of the best feeling clubs I've hit on the range was the Mizuno T-Zoid Pro II irons but I've never played them on the course.
In short, I always go back to the Eye 2's because I hit the long irons so much better. I'm probably going to buy the Wilson FG Tours or the Cobra S2 Forged and we'll see how it goes.
-
Yep, taylormade. About 2005 i think. There is a lot of ho-ha about them as some are miura forged. Ther is no shortage of info on them. just a very soft players cb with a thin topline and lovely lines and headshape. TM has made some great irons in the IMO. They have me non-plussed as to what they are up to lately. I don't get it.
My first set of good irons were mizuno t-ziod pros. I like mizzys and have heaps of their sets but in the end they are not my favorite.

I remember those well, although I think they came out in 2001 or 2002. The 320 is also a good iron but is not forged. The Taylormade Tour Burner is a great looking iron that feels pretty good. I hate the plastic junk in the cavity.
