Anyone use an Odyssey Black Series i ?

I've got my eye on one of the Odyssey Black Series i putters. These are the ones that are $279 new and have a metal insert in the face (not to be confused with the ones by the same name that have the white insert). Anyway, I tried one at the store and it felt and looked great. I saw one on Ebay for around $79. The particular model I like is the small mallet #3 model. Here's a photo:

Haven't tried it but agree it looks nice. For some reason the putter is one club I haven't previously felt the need to try new ones or ho different styles/models. However lately my scores have been affected more and more by ordinary putting and I am missing too many short putts. It has got me thinking I need to improve my putting and of course a new putter is required to do that!
I chose the road less traveled.

Now where the f#ck am I?

    Hi

Yes i had the Black series i #1. Very good putter. The insert is a lot firmer than the usual XG and the putter is heavier, i would have one again in a heartbeat if i played on quicker greens. The insert made distance control on UK greens (slower than yours) a bit difficult. Other than that an excellent, high quality putter.

I am using a Heavy Putter at the moment which i think is better for our greens.

Despite the fact that I am a club ho' I rarely change putters. A mallet will be a change for me because I've always played something similar to the Ping Ally 2 that I'm playing now. I love the look of the new Ping line of putters but I hate that cheap looking white insert. They keep blowing the design of their putters. That "IN" series was horrible looking. So was the i series.

As an inveterate club ho i change most clubs a lot but recently i have found that my clubs seem to be keepers (and they are nearly all Ping!)

Just got a Ping i15 driver and it is also a high quality product. Ping is doing the business at the moment.

Would you be willing to share what Ping clubs you are currently gracing?

Those were pretty good putters. Ram really went down the toilet fast. I'm not sure what happened with the company. They were rolling along pretty well with the Zebra putter, troon grind wedges and FX forged clubs. They came out with the first progressive set. It was a satin forged set with green lettering and I think it was called FX Progressive. It felt a tad harsh for my taste. I guess the RAM lost its horns.

The older Zebras are amongst the best mallet putters out there. The later models were a bit on the cheap side, but the ones from back 20 years ago (which I think were part of Ram, not like the newer ones which are tear drop) were absolutely pure. I always browse the bargain bins i golf shops hoping to find one, but they ever seem to come up for sale.

Aren't you using the Vijay "cheater" model. Ever since the PGA implemented PED testing, Vijay's putters don't perform as well. Get it tested. Never compromise, Kiwi. Never compromise.

He may have played it once but that guy switches putters more often than Lorenzo switches women. Oops!

I forgot I'm not allowed to say that!

I love bargain bins. My latest acquisition from one of them was a Ray Cook M-1 mallet for $9.95. It has an insert that looks like aluminum. Unfortunately, when I took it out of the bag in back of the SUV last Saturday for some putting practice, I noticed a big crease in the shaft just under the grip that rendered it useless. Damn. I would be tempted to go back to my John Reutter Achusnet Bullseye but the fluted shaft feels like something came loose in it rendering it useless also. Sh*t. So the decision is to spend money on putter reshafting. Yechh. If one or the other, it would have to be the Bullseye since the U.S. Ryder Cup Captain has used one his entire career and it has enabled him, despite his stature and lack of length, to be a scrappy competitor who actually won a Major. Should I spray paint the Bullseye head flat black? And would I need to grow a moustache in order to use it properly?

Bargain Bin is sort of a misnomer. The clubs in a bargain bin really aren't a "bargain" per se because they have a price on them. It's not like you can say I got a bargain on this club because I bought it out of the bargain bin. In order to get a bargain, you have to pay less than what the club is worth. However, if the club has been sitting in a bargain bin and no one else has bought it, then it stands to reason that it's really not a bargain. Rather, it's just cheap club you bought that no one else wants...like a set of Powerbilt Irons.

K15 irons are the replacement for the Raptures. They have the Titanium faces, slightly stronger lofts and higher launch conditions. They also come with hybrids as standard in the 4 & 5.

K15 are played by single figure handicap players. G15 are for choppers. Simple really

Dude are you made of money?

Famousdavis is always club ho'ing but he seems to be picking up bargains on older models and classics whereas you are constantly ho'ing the latest and greatest equipment. The latest Ping clubs don't come cheap?
