The other day I was crusing ebay and saw a local pick up Ping Eye 2 sand wedge (the square grooved version). I put in a top bid of $25 (uit was on 10 at the time) and left it, hoping to go back towards the end of the auction. I just went on ebay and saw the auction ended and it wnt for $34. I would have been prepared to pay higher than that, but should In take this as a sign that Ping are just not meant for me? I'm figuring if I was meant to have a Ping sw I would have subconciously known to log in before the auction ended and put in a winning bid. I guess I'll never know how good the Eye 2 wedges are, they hardly ever come up at any price.

They are re-releasing them in February. Looks pretty similar to the original design...probably won't have square grooves.

NAH - you should take it as an Omen and stick to GFF. One the flip side it would have been a nightmare to have to fork $25 over for the misery of getting an eye 2.

If I had humble pie, which I didn't, I would have tasted it twice after looking at that picture. I must admit the only thing worse than seeing the back of an eye 2 is the top line of a eye 2. Fugly.

You show me another set of irons on Ebay that were produced back in 1985 that sell today for $200 in stainless and $400 in BeCu. Whether FD ackowledges it or not, Ping are definitely perceived by the broader golfing community as game improvement irons for hackers. I personally know 2 scratch golfers who play Ping so I'm not saying they are exclusively clubs for hackers, but that's the perception. And as you correctly pointed out, hackers make up a large part of the golfing fraternity, so by the basic tenets of supply and demand Ping stuff is going to go higher on ebay as more buyers wil be competing for them.

Because they are so f'ing hard they look as good, relatively of course, as they did in '85. The BeCu's are probably because the material can no longer be used to make clubs.
The only way a single wedge is going for $225 is because it's a collectors item.

I did get mine for a song, but I must admit I got lucky to pick it up for that price. It was listed at the end of a relative flood Rs on ebay here. Usually they don't come up very often and go for higher than any other driver their vintage. I have noticed that on US ebay Rs are very high priced compared to other second hand stuff. The R is a genuine collectors item for golfers with game, I still notice them in heaps of low markers bags even after all these years, far more than Eye 2 irons or wedges I might add.

I play with a 3 handicapper that has a set of PING ZINGS. Like all Pings they look horrible but obviously work Ok.

I had a set of Zing knockoffs which I actually liked a lot, and regretted selling. I once took a demo set of Zing 2s out and hinestly didn't like them at all. At the time I was playing the TPS 7.0 and in all honesty the Powerbilts had muach better feel, the Pings were harsh and very clicky, but it could have come down to a fitting issue, as I had the Powerbilts custom fitted and the Zings were a different shaft, length and lie. Thinking back to my Zing knockoffs, I must admit they were a very sweet feeling iron, had an outstanding piercing trajectory and ball flight, and I could back up a 7 iron with them. Going by the quality of the knockoffs, I would say the real deal Zings, if fitted fro you, would be a steal at $200.

I couldn't believe how many clubs this guys had. He had a new set of Ping Zing 1-LW that he will sell me for $200.
