I picked up a set of Callaway X14 pro series today Have you guys any opinions on this set. They have no offset which is why I got them. I only hit the 6 iron and it felt good and seemed fairly accurate although I hit my FG17s much straighter.
I think they are very poor feeling junk. I once had a hit with some and couldn't believe how badly they peformed. The sweet spot was tiny, and even out of the middle there was nothing remotely special about the feel. It wasn't a shaft issue either as they had the same shafts as in my set at the time. This isn't a general Cally shovel bashing tirade, it's an honest opinion.

I had a set which replaced my X14 irons about 8 yrs ago I think (they hadnt been out long)
In all honesty i prefered the standard X14's although that could well be because i play better with a little offset and the X14 heads are larger. They had good shafts (Rifle if i remember) and the heads were more compact than i had been used to.
In all fairness i didnt keep them long as i found them quite harsh and very unforgiving for cavity back irons. I thought they had a very small sweet spot and i seemed to loose a little distance with them.
Overall, not bad irons but certainly not Callaways best.
That's what I played, back when they came out. I usually miss something about irons I retire. Not those. They weren't awful, just ok. Although part of the reason I didn't miss them was because their successors were RAC LT's which I found to be excellent.

The Hawkeye (which are, by GR agreed standards SGI CAST POS OS SHOVELS) are excellent clubs which cost $1000+ when new.
They made the original Hawkeye and then the VFT Hawkeye. The original Hawkeye which are now very rare are some of the best irons i have ever used BUT they are HUGE with a lot of offset so probably wouldnt suit you.
I will bet he knew that the Hawkeye were the ones that would sell on e bay and went for the "thick as pig shite" ploy to pretend he had no idea about golf so he could get them.
As bad as those Callys are, if you got them cheap you will get your money back. I agree with Edgey that the Hawkeyes would probably pull in a better price, but by much. X-14 Pros will still get a decent enough price on ebay, although I have no idea why.

I guess eventually I will get rid of some of this stuff, right now I am just picking out what I like the best. The only CBs that I ever found good enough are my Tommy Armour 845s silver scots(I have them in stiff and regular) but the offset on the long irons screw me up when I later hit my woods and driver. I have my blades sorted out BH grinds are the best feeling...Wilson FG17 the most accurate and a few others. but CBs are just fkd up to figure out.For instance one shovel that most would think is crap: the Staff fatshafts, I find to feel really good and quite accurate although I have never tried to shape a shot with them.
I just got back from the range and had a chance to try both the Cally pro series set and the 3 and the 6 from the Forged FX2 cavity back Rams that I got a few weeks ago. There is absolutely nothing wrong with those callaways. They were a lot better than most CB shovels that I have tried. Sure all the shots felt the same but the feeling was good. I found that shaping them was not as reliable as shaping a blade.... which kind of sucks the big one. The ones that really shined were the Rams. Holy cow straight as an arrow with good feel for a CB. Too bad that they are rams though. Oh I also compared a 7 iron non pro series Cally...The pros are much better feeling by a long shot-no idea why since they both had steel shafts and seemed to be the same pattern. I did compare a Cally with a Graphite shaft.....What a POS feeling piece of crap I think the graphite shafts are what give Callaways the crappy reputation.

Having spent about two hours today in the sand with the wind in my face I can attest to the above mentioned characteristics of the said sandwich. You have lifted my curiosity and my next comparison will be my Ping Eye Twos gloves off with said said Cally sand sandwich clubs.

All milk is 70% pus, and chicken, beef, and pork are covered in fecal material. What do you think your veggies grow in? (Not to mention pesticides.)

I'm the same way. Plain milk tastes like shite (or pus, blood and antibiotics). Chocolate milk is good. Even better though is "Ice Cream." Whenever it is frozen with sugar and other ingredients added, no one gives a phuck about pus, blood and antibiotics.

A friend recently sent me an email titled Walmartians that showed what I thought was strange people at a US walmart (supermarket). however one person was holding a pet Kangaroo that leads me to believe that it may have been in OZ. do you guys have Walmarts? and if so are you guys alowed to keep baby Kangaroos as pets?

I went to the golf store today and they had a set of 4-PW with the gap wedge and sand wedge for $169 that I bet I could get for $125. They had bag chatter on them but only the 7 iron showed any rusting on the face. I hit them in the cage and they felt wonderful. They had Dynamic Gold Sensicore S300 shafts.

We get those Walmart emails here too (I'm assuming form the quality of the clientel they must be Oklahoma stores). Funny stuff, I thought our welfare class were bad til I saw those emails. As OP has said we don't have Walmart here, but I think Kmart, Target and Big W are the same thing. As for the Kangaroos, it is illegal to keep them as pets, so it is unlikely it was an Australian store. It seems that it's easier to have a pet kangaroo in the US than here. Unless of course it's a kangaroo that can open pad locked gates and operate a 2 way radio, in which case it's Skippy.

$125 would be a good price, even for second hand. I think you would do better with R300 though. From my recent experimentation with irons, shaft is the biggest factor in making clubs hard to hit or not. The type of club has a little to do with it, but for anyone who can play in the 80s would be hitting it pretty close to the middle of the face on a consistent enough basis. Player irons with the right shaft will be just as easy to hit as shovels IMO, and conversely shovels with shafts that are too stiff would be just as hard to hit as blades with the same shaft. People get confused because all GI clubs have softer shafts, so they think they are easier to hit than blades, which always have stiff or extra stiff shafts. It's stiff or extra stiff shafts that the majority of amatuer players have trouble hitting, not the design of the head.

Funny how that works If you did not have crocs out there I would think that they would allow you to have American allegator pets there. I hate those things they are all over the place here and they are protected. I have had one come out of the water and eat the chicken off of my hibachi grill on the ground while camping.

The ones on top look nice, bottom not so much. Sensicore....while I have some clubs with them , and I like them II have never inspected the condition of that black foam they are made of. It is the same material in my camera cases and that stuff turns to powder after a few years I wonder how long those things stay as foam before they fall apart as a powdery mess inside the shaft. any experience with that ever happening?

LOL..I've never kept a set of irons long enough to know. Most irons have something fall apart within the first 3 years. Cavity inserts fall out all the time. I was browsing Golf Magazine today at the grocery store and reading the driver ClubTest. I don't know how you can get anything out of reading that because they say good and bad things about every driver.

I found the X14s are keepers, but any thoughts about the Taylor Made Firesole (nicke-steel) CBs they are from about 2000 or so they came with the Steel smooth Rifle S-90 shafts I just picked up a partial set 6-PW in like new condition. Any thoughts on this set. Other than chipping on the living room rug, I have not tried them yet.

JetDriver, I'm betting against you keeping the X14s for longer than a year but we'll see. I saw a near brand new set of Firesoles at golf mart. I think they were $149 or even less. It's a funny looking club with sort of a low profile and elongated head. Very little offset. They come with Rifle shafts. Other than that I've never hit them. The best Taylormade irons I've seen are the Taylormade RAC TP MB irons. I think they came out about 5 years ago. Maybe 7 years ago.
