Still recovering from the effects of two consecutive hurricanes and still receiving six month's worth of rain in seven days so I know what a hardship it has been for you and your fellow left-coasters.

There's really no comparison. Those who didn't experience it have no idea what total darkness is like. I'm thankful I survived.

We need to bring the terrorists responsible for this power outage to justice.

Stuxnet strikes again. Some west coast nerd pissed off an east coast nerd on one of the hacker's forums, and Lorenzo became part of the collateral damage.

I had no concept of what life today is like without power. No lights of course. Traffic was gridlocked everywhere because traffic signals weren't operating. Not knowing how long the outage would last we couldn't open the fridge so dinner was Ritz crackers. We missed the opening NFL game which based on score may have been a great game. Cell phones were mostly non-operational. No internet. No emergency services. Garage doors needed to be opened by hand. The gates to the community had to be left open allowing just anyone to enter thus ruining security. Flights couldn't land or take off. The local bar was closed. Couldn't pump gas at gas stations. No AC on one of the hottest evenings of the year so far.

Today the beaches are closed because without power sewage treatment plants shot their untreated loads into the ocean killing what was shaping up to be a couple of good days from another one of Kiwi's storms.

Count your blessings. At least your storms come from civilised lands down under. In the east, ours come from Africa where its all-animals, all the time.

    Another theory.

T Boone heard OK ST was getting left out of the super conference discussions, and he was sending the PAC-16? a message.

It's interesting, we don't get the storms however if they're large we get the surf. This summer there have been a number of large storms off NZ. That's perfect for us as it produces big fat waves coming in from the SW and not blocked by So Cal's coastal islands.

Dammit, we were going to party and watch football last night and surf today. Now I may have to go play golf.

From a Packer fan to a Steeler fan, thats funny as all heck-and probably true! Gonna be interesting to see what happens to the Pac-????? How many teams will there be-looks like maybe Texas and Oklahoma wanna get in, who's next? One thing....how are the fans gonna travel-lots of country to cross for road games.

I can't imagine what its like to go through that-traffic, no communications, even local bar closed-jeez! The guy who invented air conditioning (and heat pumps) is my hero, I can't imagine not having that if its hot.

As you know our power was out as well. People were out in front of their homes talking with neighbors, playing board games with their families and communicating. Most people couldn't use their PDA's to text and be mindlessly entertained by TV and video games. It's amazing what technology has done to isolate people from each other. Of course, I couldn't be typing this with no power.
