I'm going for Ernie...he's long overdue for a Masters. The other one I would like to win is Sergio Garcia, but for some reason I just don't see him winning a major until he's at least 30. The only way Tiger has a chance is if he can get some consistency in the next two weeks. He's so up and down that it's hard to say he will win. If he plays like he did at Doral, sure he can win, if he plays like he did this week at Sawgrass, he might not even make the cut at Augusta. Vijay's putting, while not terrible, I don't think it's good enough at the moment (note i said at the moment, I know how good of a putter he's capable of being) for Augusta's greens. Plus lately he's been uncharacteristically missing his driver out to the left, and any miss is a bad miss at Augusta. I think it's unlikely for Phil to repeat this year also, I know he's capable of it, but I just don't see it happening, he had some trouble at Sawgrass with a push, I'm sure he can fix it though. His short game is so good that I think he has more of a chance than Tiger or Vijay (not that their short games aren't good). Anyway, I want Ernie...Go Ernie, woohoo Ernie...rah rah shish boom bah. so on and so forth.

I hope it turns out to be competitive at the top. I don't want to see anybody run away with it. I'd love to see David Toms win. Among the young bucks, Adam Scott really impresses me. Among the "Big 4", it's hard to say. None of them were exactly on fire in the rain drenchathon. These guys are very human, and just like the rest of us, they can go on hot and cold streaks. Whoever happens to be hot for 4 days gets the jacket, and since everybody there is there for a reason, virtually anybody could potentially walk away with it.
Seldom right, never in doubt......

Luke Donald is playing pretty good right now, and is a great putter. Davis Love III is also someone to watch, he'll have a good year. And don't forget Freddy Couples, he always plays well at Augusta National. Out of the Big 4 I hope Ernie wins. He had so many heartbreaks in majors last year that I think he is primed and ready. So my picks are Donald, DL3, Boom Boom, and The Big Easy.

I'm gonna have to go with Tiger on this one....only because of this:
Saturday I had the rare opportunity to witness/assit the building of a 3 wood for Tiger. I visited a friend in VA this weekend for spring break and he does career mentorship for school at a nearby club building/repair/etc. shop and the owner is an associate of a guy who is a rep for some companies on the PGA tour i guess...anyways, the club was finished and is being sent out to Tiger in time for the Masters and hopefully he will keep it in his bag for the event. I'm hoping he makes some insane shot with it so I can gloat to everyone that I held and put the grip tape on that 3 wood ....pretty hefty price tag on it too, if bought by a regular customer it would retail for about $600, $350 for the shaft alone!

wow that grip must be expesnive

When I think about the 2005 majors the same thought keeps creeping back into my mind....LUMPY TIME!

My answer to this question will be diverse...I will choose 3 possible winners, one American, one European and one from the Rest of the World. Ya, ya, I know pick one...but this is more fun!
If it's an American, I believe Phil Mickelson will win. If it's a European, I feel Paddy Harrington will win. If it's a player from the Rest of the World, I feel Ernie Els will be victorious.
Being Canadian, it would be nice to see Mike Weir do it again, but it seems that during the first part of the season, he has suffered some mental lapses. Still my sentimental favourite though.
Ok, not to sit on the fence, I feel the odds on favourite is the Big Easy. I predict he will win with a score of -8.

Ernie will win, I think his game is there and his mind set and determination is strong.
Phil won't win because he topped out way to early and his game can't be "59" every time.
He might be top 10
Tiger....I think Tiger really wants this one bad, If he won this one he would get a big boost and I think he could go on to win 5+ tournaments this year. The only thing that will stop him is his driver.
Vijay, NO WAY. I think he is playing scared of Tiger, if his putter is working he might have a chance, Needs to drive the ball better to win

Top 4 pick - Els, I think its time for him to make some serious US noise again.
Pick from the heart - Weir, it would be great to see him win again, eventhough I don't think he deserves too the way he has been playing and nor do I think he will
Pick from second tier players - Zack Johnson, this kid's game impresses me more and more everytime I watch him. I don't think he's too far from breaking out.
Also I think Goosen has a realistic shot at it. This guy has all the tools and we've witnessed it, but he just doesn't get the attention.

Mike Weir : He hasn't been playing well of late but at The Players Championship I seen signs of Weir improving, his ball striking is maybe the best it has been in two years and all that is off is his short game. If that comes clicking he will be tough to beat.
Jim Furyk : He always plays strong here and I feel this time could be his week. Like Weir he is gritty and can grind his way late on a sunday. Jim has no weaknesses. He didn't do well at Sawgrass but neither did so many others who are contenders.

arnold palmer is making the worst mistake of his life not playing in the Masters. he had this year's win in the bag.

Speaking personally I'd love Harrington to push on from being best in Europe into top 4 in the world, he really needs a major to cement that - the 2 majors that suit him best are Masters and USPGA. Tho I have a sneaky that Graeme McDowell will become our best golfer - (tho he is a Nordie and they don't count ;) ey IG ) - this year maybe too soon for him but a top 10 isn't beyond him.
Stateside, I like the look and temperment of David Toms, he's been there and knows what it takes. All in all I'll be breaking the kids piggybank and putting the shekels on
Retief Goozzzzzzzzen.

Oh, great. It's that joyous time of the year when we get to hear Jose Maria Ola-th-abal's name over and over again. He always seems to be way up on the leader board at the masters.
I won't make a prediction of who will win, but I do hope to see all of the Big 4 at the top. A nice Ernie/Phylis pairing followed by Veej/Tiger would be great. Screw the Euros. ;)
I keeps it real.

Nah. I really stems from my inability to comprehend how a "th" sound comes from a "z". Effing JMO.

Vijay isnt scared of anyone, Id feel comfortable picking him to win anytime. I hope Phil doesnt 'cause I dont want to look at those man boobs all day. My pick this year, though is Shooter McGavin, as long as he can hold off Happy's long drives.

literally the most awesome pick of all time.

Didn't Michele Wie say last year that her ultimate goal was to win The Masters? Maybe this will be her year!
Seldom right, never in doubt......

OK. I understand the Happy Gilmore reference which is worth a chuckle. To say it's pure genius is overstating things a bit.

I agree. Might as well say you hope Tin Cup wins.
And I'd like to see Daly win another major.
I hope they never find out that lightning has a lot of vitamins in it, because do you hide from it or not?

I'd love for Els to win, but he hasn't been putting well lately and I don't think he can pull it off. I'm going with Retief Goosen. Don't know why; I've just got a feeling.
-
I'd like to see Tiger win again with his inferior golf equipment.
Usually the shot that got you into trouble is gonna get you out.

It could happen. You know he's back now for the 8th time since 2001 or whenever it was.
I would like to see Tiger nowehere near the top page of leaders, golf is much better to watch when you don't have to listen to the announcers give him a personal #@$% fluffing every shot he plays. Its worse than Bill Walton's love for the Lakers I swear.

Did you steal my pick from early in the year? ;) I have it somewhere on this site that he is my dark horse to win. His driving has gotten much better and his hands around those greens has a match for success.
-
Lee Westwood - i dunno, just gotta go for my english laddy...
-
Gotta take the GOOSE. He gets no love, but day in day out, I'd take him to beat anyone.
Sergio or Els would be great too. Go Retief!
I hate bogeys.
-
My sleeper....Golf Mag's coverboy Adam Scott! I'm sure hoping that Els can do it though!

WATCH OUT FOR LUKE DONOLD AND GREAME MCDOWELL COME ON THE IRISH HARRINTON ETC...
