craziest round
Happened almost 2 years ago.. played 74 on a par 69 course....
Eagle : 1 (the ball stopped 1 foot behind the flag on a 264 m par 4)
Birdie: 4 ( couldnt remember which holes, but for sure 2 from short par 4 as well)
Par: 5 (Mostly par 3)
Bogey: 5
Double Bogey : 3
The score is not crazy... the crazy part is I made lots of birdies... also a lot of Double Bogeys!! Inconsistent? thats how I play... any advices... please... you are more than welcomed!

Mentioned in earlier thread.
62 on front nine, 33 on back. Looking back on it, I was just really surprised I didn't pack it in after 9.
-
Don't remember hole by hole but I shot a 49 on the front and a 40 on the back.
-
Some big differentials between front and back. Had a 37, 50, and a 53, 36. I was basically the same guy both times, in each nine. The bad nines had a few more bad drives that got me in big trouble, and the good nines had a few more lucky breaks and maybe some better putting.
But, that doesn't come close to Jayhawk's round. I'd like to hear the story behind that.
-
I don't remember the score I had but there was this one round the first summer that I played alot where I skipped a ball like three hops across a pond and had about 5 tee shots hit trees and bounce into the fairway.I also holed out for a par from the fairway on a par five it was about 50 yards. Still I sucked back then and I am sure I was in the 90's. But i always remember the course being real nice to me that day.
-
The only specific round I remember is 9 holes I played last night. Started with a 3-putt bogey from 18 feet, then a double on the next hole when I took 3 to get on the green from 140 yards out, then finished birdie, birdie, par, birdie, par, par, par. I guess that isn't so strange, though, because I just hit my stride after the first couple of holes.
I used to have some crazy rounds because I went right at the hole on every shot. Sometimes it would pay off, like a couple of chip-ins in the same round plus maybe an eagle, and a lot of times it didn't pay off. These days, I have more rounds with a lot of pars and fewer rounds with 2 or 3 chip-ins because I play chips and pitches to finish as close as possible to the hole rather than risking a 10-footer coming from above [past] the hole. Once upon a time I had a round of 67 (on an easy par 70 course) in which I only hit 8 greens in regulation. With an all-or-nothing attitude, though, I'd shoot 10 strokes higher on the same course the next time around, striking the ball basically the same.

This sounds like a typical Phil Mickelson round before he finally started to play the percentages instead of "going for it" at every hole. To get all of those birdies, you must have been playing pretty aggressively. Interesting round........
Seldom right, never in doubt......

It was really a two day affair. This will probably be one of my fondest golf memories. At the club I belonged to a couple years ago, I played in the 2 day Club Championship. As a 15 handicap, I shot a 75 on the first day. This tied me for 4th in the standings after day 1, 3 strokes back.
I started the 2nd day by hitting 2 balls OB on the first hole. Finished the Front nine with a 62 (worst 9 holes ever) Followed this up with a 33 on the back nine (best 9 hole score) to finish with a 95.
I've always tried to keep my head in the game regardless of how bad I am doing, but usually when I have good and bad nine, the good comes first followed by the bad.
Edit 1 - another memory of that round was the guy I played with. On a par 3, he hit his first ball OB, Put his second one in the cup for a 3. I think he was in far more pain than I. Usually if I ever tee up a second 1 on a par 3, and hit a perfect Shot, I start scream "Stay Out Of The Hole", not that I ever had a ace. He just kinda shrugged, and said "I guess that makes 3"

Believe it or not, I wasn't. A buddy had been on my butt about going for par 5's, so I promised him I wouldn't (but when you only have a 9-iron into the green, I just couldn't resist that one...and yes it was playing downwind...). I usually pull driver out on everyhole and try to get as close as possible, but that day I played smart, taking 4 wood, sometimes an iron, off the tee. Guess that round was meant to be to make me realize how ridiculous (but fun) this game is...

5 birdies on the front and still managed to shoot 39 - so much for the round of life.

Wow! 5 birdies and lost 7 strokes to par on the other 4 holes. That must have been something to behold!
Seldom right, never in doubt......

You're right. He lost 8 strokes on 4 holes, assuming a par 36 for 9. My goof.....

a 15 handicap, shooting a 75 in tournament play. assuming par-72 for the course, that's 12-under!
and you were still in 4th place behind someone 15-under?
was this a sand-baggers tournament, or what??

The Other Day:
1-double
2-double
3-par
4-par
5-par
6-par
7-par

9-par

Actually, It was a par 68, short course, 5200 yards from the blues. But it did make a big difference that my best score was in a tournament, where you know there were no Mulligans involved. Since it was the Club Championship, there were no handicaps involved. I've shot in the 70's there 6-7 times, but my best score on a different course was 81 that played 6900 yards.

Playing the state tourney when I was a junior in HS, and swinging better than I ever have since, I managed to put 6 tee shots into creeks and ponds on 5 par 4s and 1 par 5 and made par on every one of those holes and played the 4 par threes on the course -3. I shot EVEN with 6 water balls.
I hate bogeys.

I managed to put at least 6 balls in the drink at a local muni replica hole of the infamous TPC Sawgrass Island hole. I shot no where near PAR that day. I think it might have been 115 or so. There were other water holes where I couldn't keep my ball dry plus my round probably went like quad Bogey, triple Bogey, snowman, snowman, PAR, WooHOO!
I just love golf.

Last year I went to a local course I had never played, Highland Creek here in Charlotte, NC. It's a very tough layout but, a very upscale and nice course! Anyhow, I shot 48 on the front and just knew I would "butcher" the round. Made the turn and played the back in 35. One under par! 8 pars and one birdie. Par is 72 on that course.
-
A few of my more memorable rounds: I was having a horrible day at a course loaded with water hazards, and I think I lost at least 9 balls into the water that day. On one par 5 with a never-ending lake down the right side I lost 3 balls to slices on one hole! Ouch!!!
Other memorable rounds include what I call a "Jekyll and Hyde round". On one day, I shot even par on the front 9 (2 birdies, 2 bogies, and 5 pars) and 8 over on the back 9. Another time, I couldn't do ANYTHING right on the front 9 and shot a 53; 17 over par. The least skillful player in our weekend group was in the same foursome, and he had a 51. I pulled it together on the back 9 and shot a 40; 4 over par. How can those two 9's exist on the same day to the same player??!! Golf is an amazing and maddening game, and is more psychological than physical much of the time.
Seldom right, never in doubt......

Yep Par 36 other four holes were par, triple, double, triple one triple was on a par 5 that I was 10 feet off the green in 3, chip in the trap and so on.
I felt like the priest on caddyshack I must of sunk at least 3 putts over 30 feet.

My best round
I went to my local 9 hole course last night and played the first round terribly. Think it was 61 on a par 34 course. I kept thinking if I made a mistake buying golf equipment for all that money and play like that! Next round I played very well and got 2 birdies finishing with a score of 41. That is very good for me since I´m new to golf and I have never had any lessons Conditions that night were terrible, temperature of 0° celsius and windy. When I and my friend were driving to the course it was snowing! After that round I grew to love my new clubs (Ping G2 11,5° reg, Ping G2 3 & 4 HL, 5 - pw G2, Ram FX9 3 wood 15°, Ram Zebra Z2 putter) and look forward to playing this like a madman this summer. Btw....I´m Icelandic if you´re wondering where I found those conditions at the end of May
hole 1 (par 4) 6
hole 2 (par 4) 5
hole 3 (par 3) 5
hole 4 (par 4) 5
hole 5 (par 4) 5
hole 6 (par 4) 3
hole 7 (par 3) 4
hole 8 (par 4) 3
hole 9 (par 4) 5
