    Golf Launch Monitors

Okay, I have a relative who is interested in starting a shaft/club fitting business in another country. Unfortunately, he doesn't speak English well, so he wants me to do some research about various launch monitors and which is the best. He was interested in possibly buying a SWING DYNAMICS launch monitor but apparrently that company went out of business. Does anyone have any information about comparable products?

The other companies that I've heard of are Accusport, Golf Achiever, Flightscope Pro or Zelocity. Does anyone have any experience with these launch monitors? If you could point my way to a website with information about these products, I'd be eternally grateful. It seems like most of the top club fitters have proprietary technology and don't resell their launch monitors.

I am purchasing a Launch Monitor next week at the PGA Show. I am leaning towards the new Vector Pro they are coming out with next week. I have seen and used all the Launch Monitors out on the market. Here's the breakdown from personal experience.

    1. Golf Acheiver.
Breaks down a bunch. Have to hit everything off a tee. Not that portable and sunlight can mess up the laser's. Out of the 4 people I know that have it, all wish they saved the 4 grand.

    2. FlightScope.
I know a person who reps for them. Top of the line. Very portable, no bad things to say except way to expensive. 15 grand or around 400 a month. Enough said!

    3. Zelocity.
I know a clubfitter who is in love with this machine. Very, Very, Very accurate, portable, great software included and so on. Price is 4 grand. I was leaning in this direction, but might not work for my set-up. It needs atleast 12 feet of ball flight for accurate measurements and I have only 9 to 10 feet. Going to talk to them next week and see if
    that's OK!

    4. Accusport.

Is launching it's new Accusport Pro next week at the show. Very Portable, great software, cost is going to be 3 grand. What is leaning me towards this is they have joined up with Hot Stix software and it is built into the program. Hot Stix has databased all the club companys clubs and also golf ball specs and so on. What the software will do now based on your launch monitor specs is pick out the top clubs and balls that fit your swing.
I think that would be a big selling point for clubfitters and lessons. I'm checking it out next week and they are having a seminar at the show as well. I hope it's as good as it sounds.

If you google any off their names it will take you to the website.

Hope this helps and I can update when I return.

    Matt

    Thanks!

Thanks for the information. Very informative.

Basically, I'm looking for the cutting edge, top of the line launch monitor. Something that would distinguish this club fitting business from the competition I guess. I'd greatly appreciate it if you could share anything you might learn at the PGA show. Are there middlemen (dealers) that resell all the various launch monitors or do you have to purchase them directly from the manufacturer?

From what I understand, many top club fitters/manufacturers use their own proprietary systems that are not available for resale. I wonder if any of these companies might consider licensing their system to another company in another country since there wouldn't be problems with competition?

I see you got a very informative reply. I don't know much about launch monitors, but I can confidently offer a suggestion: check out the Clubfitting forum at http://www.golfsmith.com/cm/forum/gs...code=advanced1 . Anything related to club equipment, I can always find an answer in the archives.
