    Refurbished Golf Balls

Is there a great deal of difference, certainly for a begginer? It looks like an excellent opportunity to get the soft feel and spin of a pro v or HX Tour at a modicum of the price.
Does anybody out there use them that could vouch for them?

I always buy refurbished balls from a local golf shop, from the USA, Lake balls i think, they contain Nikes, Pinnacles and the odd pro-v1, but for me a NON-PRO i cant tell the differnce of 3 or 4 rrp/s of a ball. Plus they are up to half the price.

Saw your post and had to put my 2 cents in....as a biginner you shouldn't worry too much about your balls...you probably won't have them that long anyways....lol, sorry couldn't help myself....actually there is someone out there called "Lost Balls" and I have bought Titleist balls from then cheaply and they are remarkable...you would never know that they weren't new,,,try it...you may find a particular kind that you like and won't have mortgaged the house to do it.....have fun.......

your opinion of Colin Montgomery? The British tabloids? You know him personally? While I've found him to carry his feelings on his cuff he is a gracious winner as well as a gracious loser. He shows a lot more class than you've displayed on these forums. You've a lot of nerve commenting on his handle when all you have to do is look at yours. Is that based on you or Sergio?

try out high priced balls. You may get the odd one that isn't up to par, but on the whole you'll do fine with used balls now-a-days.

Like your handle. By the way he's lost quite a bit of weight.

Skill...? I do think so, apparently you haven't been watching any TV lately have you...can you do what those guys are doing?? Don't think so.....and where is the money?? European tour..?? why are so many coming over here to play...? Maybe to play with the best....But I do admit it IS 2 different games...here in the States its target golf...over "across the pond" its more links style..that is you can run it up to the greens. but each has its plusses and minuses......

Despite the fantasies promoted by their sellers, refurbished golf balls d o NOT equal new golf balls of the same brand/type. The $25/dozen you pay for waterlogged ProV1's is about equal to the $25 you pay for brand new Titleist's...

If you're not a single digit handicapper, you need to forget about the ego-stroking ProV1's,etc. and buy a nice $20-25 forgiving ball that is suited to a beginner like yourself. If you're a single digit handicapper, you should be above scalping used waterlogged balls to try & save $1 per round on your golf balls.

Either way, get over your brand lust & buy a ball suited for you...

I read an article in DG a while back where they reviewed the refurbished balls' performance versus new. There was some loss in distance and spin with the water-balls, but oddly, the ones that were in the water longer tended to carry further than ones that took a shorter swim. On the whole, I would agree with swavguy...a PV-1 is not the right ball for many people...at least it will not offer the benefits of the straighter distance balls or the softer slow-swing balls that can be had new for the same price as the submerged PV...my 2 cents.
I can't wait for shore leave so I can get me som fukkin' poon-tang.

I dont buy golf balls....spend 5 dollars on a cheap ball retriever and get em outta the water, woods or wherever they may be....in between shots i can normally get 2 or 3 balls...
Take em home and with the harder side of a sponge scrub em to remove any minor scuffs and u got yourself some new golf balls...

If you're looking to purchase new golf balls in bulk at decent prices, rockbottomgolf.com usually has a few deals running on them. Their was also a Dick's sporting goods coupon floating around here and you can save $10 on a $25 box of golf balls. It's a nice and cheaper alternative when wanting to try different types of balls.
