    MacGregor M565 Irons

Greetings! I have a chance to pick up a like-new set of these for not much more than $200. Playing Top Flite Tour 2003s now.

Any opinions from people who own the M565 irons or have demo-ed them? Thanks!

Use the search at the top left of the page and read the reviews. After reading them a few weeks ago, I am definitely considering picking them up next season when I get the money.

I'd already read the reviews - was just looking for a current/former M565 owner so I could ask some questions.

    Smile M565

I know that the M565 will hit the ball alot longer than other clubs. I went to a driving range in Anaheim California called the Islands. It is a driving range that is a huge pond that has islands or greens that you try to hit your ball into. If you don't hit the island then your ball goes into the water. I currently play with Golfsmith Tour Cavity forged irons. I checked out the Callaway Fusion and the M565. I hit all 6 irons from each set. What I noticed was that my Golfsmiths and the Callaways went exactly the same distance, because I was landing the ball on the island I was aiming for. So those two irons = same distance. When I hit the M565 my ball flight was straight and true like the other 2 irons, but the ball was going much farther. I never did hit the same island I was aiming at, with the other 2 irons. The ball was going straight over the island and making a splash directly behind the other side of the island I was aiming for. I was amazed at the distance that comes from these clubs.

Welp, decided to take the plunge - yes, I'm a ho - and I picked up a like-new set off eBay for $207.

I'll give you a full report after they arrive.

    So far, so good...

Won the eBay auction on Friday, the clubs arrived today. They were billed as "like new", and indeed they are - six of the eight clubheads are still in the original plastic, the other two [5 and 6 iron] are immaculate. More after I get a chance to swing 'em...
