Mizuno comp ez
Well bought another Mizuno iron set. I have played a good majority of the mp line, and the mx line. But It seems mizuno offers little to nothing in between, as far as a midsize players club. Except the comp ez.
I started to understand the mx line was meant as a easier to hit version of the comp ez. Some mx owners claimed they liked the comp ez much better, and found them easier to hit, and went back to the comp ez. I bought a nice looking set 3-pw set. With new grips, and a lob wedge thrown in. Could even make a nice combo set, as the mx 20, mx 23, mx 25 line 8-pw is a wee on the the big side. But the long irons are among the easiest I,ve ever hit, and fairly compact.

I was at the range this morning and the guy to my right was hitting some really good looking Mizuno cavity backs. The guy hit them really well and he hit his 3 wood and driver OK. Those were Taylors with bubble shafts. So I snuck a peak at his bag and he freaked like I was going to steal a club or something but I said I just wanted to see which Mizunos he had. MP 30's. They sort of looked like MP 60's but with more muscle and less cavity. I think I'd like to hit me some of those.

My 1st venture into GFF Mizuno's was a combo set of MP 30's in the 3-5 irons and MP 33's 6-PW.
I really like the MP 30's and would happily play them throughout the full set. Very soft feel somewhat similar to the Tourstage Z101s I'm bagging now.
The Comp-EZ comes equipped with Dynamic Gold Plus shafts that are a pleasure to hit. They have a little more action in them than Dynamic Gold and I believe are a little lighter. From what I recall they have strong lofts and keep the ball down which is rare for a midsize iron. In addition, they have less offset than the MX line of irons. I bought a set about a year ago but they didn't feel quite right to me.
The MP-30 is a nice feeling iron but I didn't like the amount of offset for a forged club. I also found the ball flight to be too high for my taste.

Its sure hard to beat the feel of a Mizuno iron. The Z-101s we have are as close as I,ve found. I practice with them, in the backyard nearly everyday. Up to an 8 iron, as I lose my backyard balls past that club. Which on some days I dont care, and pound a driver, or whatever. Its amazing how nice they feel, even on slight mishits. I dont know if the nippon shafts have something to do with the great feel. But I will probably bag them most of the season next year. TourStage baby. Point is I,m still a ho, and theres so many Mizunos left to try. The comp ez look to be hidden gems.

The ones I purchased are a mystery, as there is no shaft bands. So I could have screwed up. The dummy that listed them, had them under antiques, had one picture of the soles, which looked nice, real nice actually. Even though the picture was a bit fuzzy. So I made a real low offer, and they took it. Shipped friday. I cant get these mx 20s to stop on hard draws on par 3s lately. the a10s and the z-101s rip a trench stopping. I,m hitting a lot of par 3s lately only to watch them roll off the back.

If those irons have .355" bores, maybe you can idenitify the shafts using the step patterns True Temper has on its website. Unless they have been tipped.

I would bet there all stock shafts. I,m sure your like me, and can swing a few times and tell what flex they are. But who knows until I see them. The place were I tweak my stuff, I was there yesterday, as I flattened my mx 20 from 2 deg upright, I didnt know they were that! To 1 deg flat, and they put a new putter grip on. She,s like I dont no what to charge. I said I usually pay for the putter grip, and give you a large tip. Shes new there. They were busy fixing to run someone off the course that refused to take his cutoff shirt off, and change it back. These guys got a frequency meter, or something for checking flex, I,m pretty sure.

I can't tell what flexes are and don't care. Its how I can hit them. I started to do my own re-gripping and re-shafting because it takes too long and the Golf Galaxy and gets expensive if I want to try a grip build-up a certain way or different shaft lengths. Anyway, this past week I have been trying to salvage playability of my Titleist 755's and decided that if I couldn't do that, I'd trade them on something else. So I pulled the shafts that were already soft-stepped once and sacrificed the 3 iron putting its shaft in the 4 etc up to the PW. So they ended up all 1/2" over standard and the swingweights got pretty heavy. So the Golf Galaxy was having good sales on stuff and I got a bunch of GP DD2 grips and some more lead tape and I built up the grips including some lead tape wrapped around the bottom of the grip where my right hand goes. I don't know what their frequencies are but I like to tap the shaft butts against my basement concrete floor and note the frequencies of each. The higher the frequency, the stiffer the shaft. Now all these 755's are a couple of cycles per second (Hertz for you young guys) indicating that they get a bit softer with each consecutive length. I find it interesting that some of my graphite wood shafts marked "stiff" sound out (and play) a good bit more flexible than some of my regular flex ones. Next time you look at a set of irons, you might want to tap the butt of each one on the floor and, if there's one that is notably out of tune or sequence, it is likely that it has been replaced and would screw up set continuity.

The comp ez set came in today. New sharpo grips, multi compound. Definitely smaller then the mx line, very nice looking sole, pretty compact, toplines not to bad, actually nice. I only got to play 9 holes , but they seem very easy to hit, and very much have that grain flow forged feel in abundance. The shafts are a mystery as they have starting 6-7 inches from the hosel, 4 one inch steps. 4, 1.5 inch steps. then another one inch step. then a 3.5 inch step up to the grip. Havent seen them on true tempers web site. Oh well they feel nice. They seem to fall nicely in between the mp and mx line.

My last post about these comp-ez. They are definitely as easy to hit as any of the mx line, and so much more appealing to the eye at set up. Very blade like, as a matter of fact a fellow near scratch player was admiring my irons, said don't you find blades hard to hit, I said not these. I played a quick 9 and shot 3 over, nothing to brag about, but I hit some perfect iron shots. If Mizuno still made these they would probably not sell to many other models. There that nice.

This goes for lots of OEMs. Plenty of Ping players still say the Eye 2 is the best iron Ping has ever made, especially the lob wedge. If Titleist still made the 905R half the tour would be playing it. The ProV1X from about 2005 is unsurpassed, nothing they make now comes close. If Maxfli still made the A10 irons they would be a huge seller. If Powerbilt still made the TPS 6.0 more of you would be bagging them and wouldn't give me so much grief. Suckers always want something different, not necessarily something better.

I am very close to the U.S Golf Academy, so I'm able to test, look, and play the latest. I usually go right to the Mizuno irons. Usually I walk away somewhat like can't they do any better. If it was truly something outstanding, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Better off waiting a season and saving some dough. Though it's kind of funny seeing all the weekend warriors playing the Titleist 910 driver, and R 11 or the ap irons. Tossers

I agree. Maxfli came out with two outstanding irons in a row, both of which have the highest ratings of any irons on this website. The Revolution and the A10. I think it's simply an example of a lack of marketing funds and key players using their irons.
I tried the Taylormade R5 Dual last night and it felt better than any other modern Taylor driver I've hit. The 905R was a home run and they should have stayed with that look.

I currently have one or more of each of the Tit drivers including both 983's (K & E), 905T, 905R and 907D2. The D2 was the last in the line of Tit bore-through drivers where the shaft tip ends flush with the sole of the club and the distance of insertion from top of hosel to sole is about 3.5" from the 975D to the 907D2. I have experimented with installing shafts in all of those heads part way in about 1.5" to 1.75" which is typical of most other driver makes. The difference that I experience is all in feel. With the shaft all the way in, the hit is much more solid and the ball travels straight for me unless I make moves to bend the shot left or right. Now 3.5" is a long way to insert the typical graphite shaft so at that length, the shaft will play a good bit more stiff than at 1.5 to 1.75". With the 909 tit and now the 910's, Tit went to the normal partial insertion depth and all of those I've hit have felt less solid that my 905Rs and 907D2. Plus the 910's have the adjustable hosels so that there are more moving parts to loosen up as its impacts increase. Titleist was probably swayed by complaints from the masses that the bore-through models were tougher to hit and part of the reason was that the guy who always plays stiff shafts got a bore-thru Tit with a stiff shaft that really played X and he couldn't hit it.
I went back to the Ping s59 irons today. I just received my shipment from 3balls.com. It's cool because they put brand new Golf Pride white/black Multi-compound grips on them. These clubs just look perfect to me at address. A nice little blade profile with just enough forgiveness to settle my already calm nerves. With these clubs I feel invincible, like Sampson with long hair. I'm playing on Sunday and I will bag these clubs and use them to shoot a low score. Let no man get in my way again of playing masterful golf! I'm also in the market for a new/used driver and I'm leaning toward the Ping G5 9 degree w/ Aldila NV-65 shaft. With this driver/irons combination I will forge a path of destruction upon anyone who seeks to steal away my GR reigning champion status.

I was so tempted to demo those earlier this summer. They looked sweet at setup. But I knew it would bring you great pleasure, so I reframed. I recently passed on a nice looking set for 250 but I heard fakes are not uncommon. The seller had a good rep
I cant believe how I,m liking these comp ez,s. There sweeter then candy, and have that perfect ballflight. Distance is near perfect. I really enjoy hitting the 4 iron, perfect slight draw ballflight, almost automatic. Quite possibly the nicest feeling Mizuno I,ve hit. It,s early though, and I,ve only played 18 holes, and 50-60 practice balls with them.

Almost got a set of Mizuno Comp EZ / stiff-regular shaft to try out last night. Lost the bid at the last minute. Will look again (basically I just need 6i-PW), if I like them then I will sell my Cally X-16 set on ebay which I barely use

Don't give up on finding a set, as there not many ever for sale. There the most interesting clubs I've played in awhile.
They look very player, but play like a Gi club. The weather has not let me get out, as it's rainy, and chilly, plus I worked a half day on Saturday, which was the only decent period of the weekend. I got 9 holes in before rain came.

There's a set of heads for sale on Ebay now. I am getting tempted. Saturday I bought a GS 95 shaft in regular to try in my 755 7 iron. I installed it and went out Sunday late to try it. Took one swing and my back went out again. M*th*r-F*ck#r!. Thinking the GS 95's might feel good in those Comp EZ's.
Thanks FD, but that is a stiff steel shaft... NO WAY, not for my swing, that why I wanted the stiff-regular graphite shaft ... well, hopefully another set will show up next

I wasn't starting out very well, as I was bogey on the first hole, par the next; a par 3 bogey on the third a par 5, I was thinking here's the bogey train, it was cool, wet, cloudy, windy, started late around 3:00 I saw 3 whitetail deer meandering around the third hole green at Chesapeake run, I snapped a couple pictures with the iPhone watched them a minute or two, grabbed my putter walked near the deer they never ran off. I finished my bogey putt. Par on every other hole on the front. Some spectacular iron shots made my weak putting not an issue. I managed to par every hole on the back, with a birdie on 14 a par 3 that I had a 2 foot putt. I thought I was going to blow it on 18 as I took 4 to get on, and was left with a tricky downhill putt near 20 feet, which I made. For a one over round 73 as it's a par 72 that's a little over 6500 yards. Best round of the year. My buddy wasn't keeping score, as I did, so I was able to tune out the score to the end of the round. My buddy was tired as he'd been up since 2:00 in the morning, he shot like sh!t

I first thought he was in Maryland because of the Chesapeake name thing. But he is in Ohio. I guess some of the Chesapeake Indians must have ventured west. There is a Chesapeake Bay Club south of you in North East, Maryland. Never played it but drove by on some real estate business years ago. Looked OK.

I play both (old name Rising sun and Northeast course), they are sister courses. used to be private but turned public due to poor economy about 10+ yrs ago. Northeast is shorter but much tighter, usually not as crowded. It's beautiful to play there in the mid-fall (mid-Oct)

Indiana is where I reside. Chesapeake run was supposed to be a 50 and over retirement community with a private course. They decided to make it a public course. They went through a bank forclosure recently. Now the bank owns and runs it. It's on the market for around 2 million, very unique course as no homes border any holes, or any roads, or farm fields. Gorgeous piece of property, quite hilly 14 elevated tees. If I had the money and could afford to lose some money till are economy turns around, I'd buy it. It an hour from Chicago, and some big hitters are looking at it. It will sell soon.

While you guys are busy talking about geography I've been thinking about the name "Comp-EZ". Why did Mizuno use that name for that particular iron set? Where does the "Comp" fit in? Is that supposed to mean competitive, composite or composition? Are they trying to say that this set allows you to be competitive but in an easy way? Like, "hey, I'm a scratch player but it's easy for me with these irons".

Thats funny because since I got into the real estate business in 1979 I've run into people chasing golf courses and a couple of times in the late 1980's and early 1990's I thought I had a chance to get a piece of one but the prices kept going up. For the past decade, especially since 9/11/2001 I have seen the results of golf course over-development and general deterioration of economic conditions that result in some good buys, especially when lenders decide to take them over and salvage what they can. In many instances, the courses can be purchased for less than what it would cost to acquire the land, do the engineering and legal, get the permits and then build it. I see the trend of formerly private clubs going public continuing for a long time.

Here's a chance to get in for less then half. I see 5 million maybe more. I think this was a group venture, with multiple investors, that was started around 2000. Then the perfect storm was created. I would think the right investor could sit on it, and at that price your P@L statement would be meaningless, especially if you could sell a few lots over next couple years. The place gets some play, and has some league play. The bank dropped the rates to 35 on weekends, and 25 through the week, this summer.

Looked OK.
Thanks. Those are very reasonable and if I was retired, I've got a cousin up in Montgomery County, PA, which is retired and plays a lot and that location would be equidistant. I'd like to play either or both in the fall.

There,s a comp ct model also, I cant find much on, Completely easy is a good definition. We have nice weather coming for the next 7 days. I,m going to burn these comp ez,s up.

It was hard everyday I could get out, this season and play, to not grab the Maxfli A10s there gorgeous, accurate, fairly forgiving, and pretty long, and feel as good as any forged club. In fact there a little almost to soft, as there very easily dinged. But I have already had some better scoring rounds, with the slightly gi mx 20s and comp ez,s in the last few weeks. I took 15 skins yesterday in a foursome. I almost skunked them on the front. I also have a new Nickent 18.5 deg gaybrid with a stiff ass graphite design shaft, that I use on par 5s alot, or long par 4s, much easier to keep in the fairway. Straight low long. Very hard to pop up. Which has helped my game.

Let's here how you hit them Op? I suspect the ballflight is a little lower, especially since you have r300 shafts, plus the comp ez seems to have a slightly more penetrating trajectory.

Yes I like them just fine. The ball flight is more penetrating plus i think they are a little longer for the same loft. Interestingly the squarer toe is taking a little to get used to at address as it looks pretty different from the 25's. I think the 25's just have them in the feel department although the ez's feel solid and very nice. I think they make a good combo set but I will definately take the ez long irons out for a run.I think the narrower sole with a less rounded leading edge is good for my swing. I haven't checked the specs but the bounce appears to be a little lower.
Thanks for the heads up on these, the test will be how long they stay in the bag.

Took the full set of the EZ out today. They performed extremely well. I really like the sole grind and ballflight of these. They have a pretty penetrating trajectory and are one half to a full club longer than other sets I have played. They are easy to hit, I creamed some 4 irons today. I let a good round go today. Was 1 under after 13 and finished 4 over after a triple on 15 and a couple of soft bogies.

Still a nice round Op. That triple was trying to be a round wrecker though.
I notice the distance is more then my normal. A little goattrack 5 minutes from the house, Bass Lake # 7 usually plays 170-180 yards, an easy 6 iron, now I'm using a 7 and hit one long the last time. This time of the year is when I notice a decrease in distance, as it's cooler, not with the comp ez. I don't no about you, but it's going to be hard to kick these out, the combination of ease of play, distance, feel, setup, looks you can live with, it's a nice package. The 4 iron off the tee shakes em up

Sounds like you hit a lot of 4 irons to greens. Must be a short knocker.

I decided to join the Mizuno Comp-EZ Club. I won an auction on the bay and it's been shipped. It's 3-PW, Dynamic Gold Plus R-300 shafts in supposedly excellent condition. After all the comments on here I've decided to try them out again.

I know sets pop up. But how does 3 balls get so many of them? I believe I had the set you purchased saved.
I shot a 79 the other day with mine, not that I was setting the course on fire. I teed up an iron whenever possible. That's how confident I am with the long irons. Congratulations on your path to enlightenment. Tell us how you hit them?

I tried the Mizuno Comp Ez at the range yesterday. The first thing I noticed was that the lie appeared to be too upright even though it's probably standard. The feedback on these is excellent in that you can tell when you've hit it off the toe or whever else you hit it on the clubface. Distance is excellent and I got 5 to 7 additional yards with each iron. I hit the 7 iron of the Comp-Ez and the 7 iron of the Titleist 990, switching back and forth. The Titleist 990 feels better to me and I hit it more solid but I lose about 5 yards on each shot. That makes sense because the Comp-Ez pitching wedge is 46 degrees while the Titleist 990 pitching wedge is 49 degrees.
I was hitting off of a range mat so it's really hard to get an idea of how the clubs feel. My first reaction is that the Comp-Ez irons feel a little clicky. When I pured one it still didn't feel as good as the Titleist 990.

Dynamic Gold Plus R-300. I think they are a little too soft for me because I was hitting a few too many fades to the right. These were not pushes but the fades I get when the shaft is a little to whippy and I hit high floaters to the right.
In short, the clubs didn't feel right to me. I can't ever see myself playing these over the Titleist 990s. Also, the PW and 9 iron are gigantic. Way to big for my eye.

They old lady is out at an interview. After I came back from walking the avatar in the dark, there was a package leaning against the door. My MX -20's 5-PW from Ebay. For $69 Buy it Now I figured the faces would be browner than bottom but there are almost pristine with no corrosion or chrome wear front, back or sole. As the seller described, they are 2" over length. The freaking guy must be Andre the Giant. Still has the personized name/address/phone # bands. From Columbus, Ohio. The heads are a touch larger than the MP 14's but the offset looks about the same. They'll be trimmed, re-gripped and hit as soon as the weather breaks. These could be my Break 80 Again sticks.

Take them out on the course, and play them. Then relay your findings. Trust me.
By the way the sweetspot seems a little out towards the toe, very strange, but that's were I get the purest strike.

I played the Comp-Ez irons yesterday and was very impressed with them. This is one great feeling iron that adds about 5 yards on every single shot. I was surprised at how accurate they were, given their size. They actually looked much smaller on the course and appeared to have less offset. Honestly, this is one of the best feeling irons I've ever hit. The feeling isn't clicky at all but instead feels buttery soft, yet solid. I was especially impressed with the longer irons on how they appear at address and how solid they feel. The DGS Plus R300 shafts might be a little soft for my tempo but the feel they provide is just orgasmic.
I also put the Scotty Cameron Futura Phantom into play. I'm kind of piss.ed at myself for not trying a mallet head sooner. On the first hole I drained a 15 foot putt for birdie and on the second I drained a 12 footer for par. This thing is so incredibly easy to line up for mid-length putts. However, I have to say that I don't especially like it for 4-foot putts and I don't know why. Also, the sound it makes is a little annoying. I don't think I've ever tried a putter that's so easy to line up. I drained a couple of other putts outside of 10 feet on the first nine. We had to quit after 9 because there were 3 groups on the 10th tee and I had a soccer tournament to go to. We got a rain check for nine holes after chewing out the idiots in the pro shop who kept putting 9-hole groups out on the back two hours after the first 18-hole starting time. Morons.
Here is the real excitement for the day, however. I had picked up a brand new Ping Rapture (not Rapture V2) driver, 9 degree with Aldila Proto "By You" Stiff shaft at Play it Again sports for $45. I put it into play yesterday and it outdrove the Ping i15 by about 10 yards. It's the easiest to hit, best looking driver I've ever played. It's much more appealing at address than the i15. I hit some absolute bombs with it. It has a better feel to it as well.

How small? Smaller than the field at the Chevron World Challenge?
One thing I forgot to mention is that on Friday I went to the range in Del Mar (Sorry, no LarryRSF sighting) and I tried the Adams A12 Pro irons with KBS Tour (stiff) shafts. I took the 7 iron to the range and hit 15 balls. They are the best feeling irons I have ever tried and have a perfect ball flight. Seriously, I have never hit an iron that felt better than these. It may be the KBS Tour shaft that makes them feel this way but it was just awesome. At address the heads look absolutely perfect. Adams is not for old folks any longer. I may have to take the plunge because I was simply amazed at the performance.

It gets better, like some fine wine, or a good bottle of aged bourbon, and some relationships.
I've had days where I knew I didn't hit the last shot perfect. But it didn't matter as the ball was on the green anyways. Truly a great set of irons.

I put them in play yesterday for my first real 18-hole demo in a men's club tournament. I hit some fantastic shots with these irons and they feel fantastic. Easily one of the best feeling clubs I've tried. What I really like is the fact that there is no sacrifice in accuracy over a smaller head. These clubs are very accurate and quite easy to fade, if you desire. On the 3rd hole, a 185-yard Par 3, I hit a 4 iron to about 12 feet. I just kept hitting green after green. The only club I don't particularly like is the pitching wedge because of it's size. I may purchase a Titleist 46 or 48 degree pitching wedge to solve this problem.
On another note, I've been playing the Callaway Tour i(z) ball and it spins better than any ball I've ever played and is just as long as any ball I've played. In fact, I would say that it spins too much. I had some pitches that checked up too soon and some iron shots that spun back 15 feet. The 4 iron shot I spoke of earlier actually backed up about 8 feet.

The only thing I didn't like about the Comp-EZ was the 9 irons & PW. I don't like short irons like that to have a large head. I have to say, I really like the Adams Idea Pro irons I played the other day. I was going to play today but the course is low elevation and a mud pit right now cause it's been raining. You might want to give the Idea Pros a try. They look perfect at address.

You are correct, I go through irons too quickly.
I agree on the size but I like the weight. So I'm thinking of a 47 degree mpt mizuno wedge maybe bent a smidge strong, that I have, its new, and maybe lead tape, if needed.

I recently got some MX 20's and have not played them yet but hit a bunch of balls off mats and grass. The heads are really big and it is noticeable to me in the 8-PW but I kind of like that and their weight seems to be perfect for me. The one thing that has thrown me off is that their sweet spots seem to be right behind the hunk of steel left on the back of the sole in the cavity with the "Mizuno" logo on it as it seems to throw the sweet spot a bit out towards the toe. I am used to getting best impact just to the right of the heel like the MP 14's and every other forged blade I've ever played. I guess you got to hit where the mass is at for best results.

As part of my winter ho'ing, and based on this thread; I bought a set of Comp Ez's to try out. Nice set 4-PW that had been reshafted with DG R300 from the original DG Plus shafts. This turned out well as I picked up a cheap 3 iron to go with them that had the original plus shaft in it, and did not like at all; felt soft and was uncontrollabe. Spent some time on the range with them in sub 32* degree weather and thought they were at least worthy of the GFF moniker.
Just arrived in Florida for some winter golf, thanks to my wife who new I was going nuts and wanted to get me back out on the course, and away from the computer. I brought these instead of my Idea Pro's (in case of airport mishaps), and I played two rounds with the Ez's. I will have to say of the game improvement irons that Mizuno makes (and I have tried) these are great irons. The larger heads put me off at first and are still bigger then I would like, but the sole design is excellent. I like to hit down (digger) on the ball, the sole width moderate so getting down and through the ball is easy. I had one shot where my ball was sitting down deep in a divot that looked like I would experience some kind of squirrely outcome; no problem with these, ball came out straight, a little lower than normal landed on the green, and stopped in 10 feet. A wide sole club (Ping G10's come to mind) would have never got down through a shot like that.
Tried the MX23's and they were good but these are better; can still work the ball with them; kind of like a oversize version of my MP30's;
Hit GIR's better than expected since not playing last fall, but alas putting is not pretty....yet...:-[

Thanks, 12Sandwich, for the heads up on these.
Mr. T, I agree. The Comp-EZ is by far thee best cavity back forging that I've taken to the tee. I see that you've reshafted with R3 and I hope they work out for thee. If need be, you might swap your hybrid and keep playing the three. I sold my Comp-EZ for more money that I had originally paid to Mr. McGee but I appreciate your honesty about your playing ability. I hope you like them. I guess we'll see.
I wanted to add that I saw the new Ping i20 irons the other day and was astounded at how beautiful they are. Ping has created the perfect looking iron. I love the fit and finish.

Tried the MX23's and they were good but these are better; can still work the ball with them; kind of like a oversize version of my MP30's;
Hit GIR's better than expected since not playing last fall, but alas putting is not pretty....yet...:-[
Thanks, 12Sandwich, for the heads up on these.
Your welcome.
Truly a great set of irons, I like all of the mx 20 mx23 mx25 but the comp-ez is easier on the eyes, and seems to have a more penetrating ball flight. I don't think you could offer me any new set of irons for my comp-ez set, there keepers. Plus being 10 plus years old limits the nice ones left. I shot several of my best rounds with them. Don't get rid of them, you'll regret it. They really don't look very GI either, I had a scratch player in a tournament say don't you find blades hard to hit? I said not these.

Well, I couldn't resist. I saw an ad for a set of 3-PW Taylormade Tour Preferred 2009 irons with Dynamic Gold R300 shaft, original grips in mint condition for $300. I bargained down until we agreed on $200 and I'd give him a dozen Top Flight XL 2000 (they've been in my garage for 12 years). I have to say these irons look great and I like them much more than the Taylormade Tour Burner irons I played a few months ago. I'm trying them out on Sunday. Yea Doggy!

For their inaugural voyage, may I suggest at least one sleeve of the new Taylor Rocketballz. It you won't look right unless you have at least one white-headed wood in your bag--driver or fairway wood.

I'll look into it. I still can't believe the deciding factor was me giving the guy a box of top flight balls. He was absolutely firm on not going any lower than $275 and then I brought up the top flight balls and his whole outlook changed. I was going to open up the box and use them on the range the next time I went out. I think this set used to retail for either $799 or $899.

A little-known secret is that two-piece balls like those TopFlites get better with age like wine provided they are kept in climate-controlled environments. The guts inside seem to harden and the balls will go much farther off driver. That guy had better contact the USGA to find out if they are still legal for play. If he intends to use them in sanctioned tournaments. I hope the sacrifice was worth it for you.

Something tells me this guy isn't going be playing in sanctioned tournaments. Especially since he told me this set was too difficult for him to hit. I explained to him that it wasn't the set that was too difficult but rather his faulty swing and lack of talent that caused the clubs to be difficult. Of course, this was after we had settled the deal. He looked at me in a sour way and I told him he'd better wipe that look off his face before I shoved that box of cheap Top Flights down his throat. He aplogized and I told him I'd consider forgiveness down the road.
As far as those Top Flight XL 2000 Super Spin balls go, I did try several of them back in 2001 and I thought they were pretty decent balls. Spin is adequate and distance is consistent with other low class balls. It makes no difference what ball I play as I routinely school my opponents regardless. My logical side leans toward playing the best balls. Might as well have the best, or at the very least the most expensive. Ciao.

I should have grabbed 2 good deals. Guy buys the new cb tour preffered taylormades, that he just paid 799 for 2011 model 3 or 350 they went for the buy it now. He bought the mb model instead another 799. I saw a what looked mint rac tp combo set 2 buy it now, delivered, sold fast. I could have made a couple hundred on those sets.
