Good & bad news in Masters week
The good news:
I'm on vacation in the South Island and after a few days of sight seeing and other tourist stuff SWMBO is going to a day spa while I play 18 holes.
The bad news.
I didn't bring my own clubs and I am having to rent them. On enquiry the only clubs they hire are Callaway including X22 irons.
Given this development I'm almost thinking of forgoing the round. Would you still play? I suppose it could be worse. They could be Ping G20 irons.

I don't know about the regular X22's, however, my X-Forged set came with the X22 Tour 4 and 5 iron; I would game a whole set of those if my choice was limited to a cast club. Set up nice at address with very little offset, good feel for cast, and I like the 4 iron better than an equivalent hybrid.
Yes, I would play.

Go ahead and play. It could be your opportunity to adopt the chopper mindset for the entire round. Make sure you take full advantage of all the mulligans, foot wedges, gimme putts, improved lies, etc. I fully expect you to shoot your best round ever, as well as piss off everyone you're playing with.

You'll probably play better with the X-22s than your Mizuno blades, MP-58s or whatever overpriced clubs you're currently bagging.
Consider this a gift in disguise.

In an earlier post, I believe that you said you were "on holiday."
In this post, you're "on vacation."
So now a question.
If you're very sick, are you "in hospital," or are you "in the hospital."
In the Queen's English, being "in hospital" is consistent with being "in church" or "in school."
In American English, we give it the "the" for some reason.
We also say "in jail," but then "in the penitentiary." I don't know what the Queen has to say in this regard.
How is it said down there on the bottom of the rock?
Also, bring your clubs with you on holiday/vacation, for crying out loud. The added airfare can't be worse than the rental fee.

LOL
I didn't bring my own clubs because for the first 4 days we were traveling in a rental car with another couple and with all our luggage there wouldn't have been room for my clubs. My clubs are waiting in Auckland and I will pick them up Friday ready for Easter weekend at the beach. Slumming it with these ugly, cast chopper shovels will make me appreciate the purity of GFF which I have been taking for granted lately.
I chose the road less traveled.

I am actually on a weeks holiday now at the Gold Coast and I am looking to have a hit at Royal Pines on Thursday. I called them up today to ask about hire clubs and they told me they were X22's. How where they Kiwi? I really want to play at this course so I am going to hit them. What are the chances of us hiring the same clubs. Lol.

The Stormers rugby team were staying at the same resort and were out on the course at the same time and hired out most of the sets so not only did I have to play X22 shovels but they also had graphite shafts !!!
I felt cheap and dirty like I had slept with a $50 whore and and didn't feel clean again until I got home and cleansed myself by playing a round with my MP58s.
In all seriousness the clubs were fine and I actually hit them quite well. The driver was the FT9 Tour, a Diablo 3 wood and 21* rescue
4-SW X22 and Odyssey putter.
The only thing I really missed were my wedges around the green which just proves the old adage it's the Indian not the arrow.
However I came back and played my own clubs on Saturday and do like them better.

I think you owe all of the "$50 dollar whores" an apology for comparing then to those shovels.

I've rented similar shovels on vacation before. I think there is probably some sound advice in buddha's thread about swinging with your eyes closed.
