I have this Lajolla 50* GW which I love (In fact I have four)... I am thinking of getting this 56* (which I know it will hit like 58* wedge base on what I learned with my current 50* GW)... Mongrel, what wedge shaft should I use?... IF cheap I will build one myself just for fun
I've done so much reshafting of my clubs in the last few months and I'm getting burned out on shafts. I think I have the 14 in the bag all set. I have reshafted every club except for the new but much used Mizuno 58* I recently procured for $15. I have left the heavy True Temper Wedge shaft in it because it works great out of sand, heavy rough, off tight fairway lies and around the green. Two weeks ago I holed a lengthy pitch shot from about 45 feet with that wedge so I ain't changing nothing on it. The shaft feels like a Dynamic Gold S400. In my gap 52* wedge, I put in a Dynalight Gold SL S300 shaft and it works OK. Since La Jolla golf is either insolvent or operating out of the owner's garage and has no website that I could find, I don't know what the inside diameter of the hosel is. If is a parallel tip .370" bore, you can put any graphite iron shaft in it and trim the butt to length. Golf Galaxy has a sale on UST IROD .370" graphite iron shafts--under $10 a pop. I put one in my Taylor Rescue Mid 16* hybrid head and its good to go.
Mostly Taylormade clubs now except for two Ping I25 hybrids, Mizuno 54 & Callaway 56 wedges.

My Titleist Vokey shaft label reads "Wedge". I assume they know what they're doing.
My fav wedge shaft was the one hooked to the Alien. It was the Tractor Beam shaft and the ball seemed to just hover forever before landing gently next to the hole. And the impact was so gentle and slight that the ball felt like it was being abducted by unseen hands.
The Alien Ultimate was simply a Lovett Tour Standard for people who have no shame.
Needless to say, I have both, plus their cousins, the Moe Norman Sandy and the Condor.
I certainly hope so as this makes me feel much more manly than playing say a Dynalight wedge shaft.

When they speak in terms of manliness and shafts, Kiwi,I don't believe that they're actually talking golf.
Otherwise, please explain to me (in golf terms, of course) what consitutes a manly shaft?
Common Nifty, surely this is obvious. In the same way that playing an 8° Driver is much more manly than a 13° Driver playing heavy X stiff shafts is much more manly than playing girly lightweight regular flex shafts. Do I really need to spell it out to a Harvard grad?

Harvard grads have excellent grammar but are notoiously bad spellers. That's why we had "Cliffy" proofreaders.
I found a new 56* Lajolla wedge club for $24.95 shipped... so I am thinking hard this route since it has the same wedge shaft that I have on my 50* Lajolla GW... I have a 56* TM RAC SW, but base on current Lajolla GW, I believe this 56* will play like a 58* wedge... as you can tell, it has almost no bounce so it gets up in the air very easy and fast... I love the 50* GW, I did not buy 4 for a stupid reason.

Golfsmith is opening a store in Wilmington DE next Friday and it will have this Snake Eyes wedge on sale for $29.99 (currently $59.99 on Golfsmith website). Anyone plays this ?
I also found my old 60* wedge I bought yrs ago by a local club builder (Turin ?) . I will try at a range today... Not sure if I need a 58* or 60* wedge, I hate to buy a club that I use once in a blue moon... Currently I have a 50* GW and 56* SW
As a week day linkster, I still understand that GR is going to pretty lonely on the weekend, at least before dark.
But as to wedge shafts, wedges are so short that I wonder if dedicated wedge shafts really make a difference. I've got quite a strange collection of mongrel graphite on my wedges, and I don't really feel the shaft.
If they were steel I might feel them, but only to notice that they feel like crap, I suspect.
I took my old 60* Turin wedge to a range today, hit it straight up in the air and about 45-55 yds in front of me ... great , now I don't need to buy another 60* wedge, it's good to go... It will be in my bag just for fun

You are either unable to put a hard enough swing on th4 wedges to feel them or else their head weights are too light. Or both.

Unfortunately, I hit them hard enough to back them off the green, mongrel. Fortunately, I have a good sense of humor when it comes to stuff like that. (I also have non-conforming grooves which might have something to do with it.)
I don't know. My wedges have a variety of mongrel (excuse the expression) graphite shafts on them, and to this point, at least, I haven't found it problematic.
