SCAM on golfreviews banner...

http://63.115.6.15/promo.cfm?claim=06119-292

As it was in golfreviews, I "trusted" the banner saying I won some vacations in Florida, who wouldnt like that...

I called, had them call me back so I wouldnt spend much on the call, as I am abroad, and spent some time having my prize described at lenght...

In the end they wanted my address and my VISA number, then called a pseudo mannager that was plain rude, I expect your banners to be screened...

Just curious, the page you linked said the following:
"* Call now to receive your discounted vacation package and Bahamas cruise!!!"

Did you read that to mean free? To me the word "discounted" would give it away, but that is just me.

The current add says "Only you can prevent Wild Fires". I'm scared, does this mean that if there is a wild fire, I will be charged with Arson? According to that, I am responsible. I better call my lawyer right away.

That's it, I quit the forum, now they have a "No Passing Gas" zone on the forum, if I can't be comfortable in my own home, it's not worth it to me. GoodBye Cruel World.

First it said on the banner that I won a prize for beeing # whatever...

Then it says in big letters: CALL TO CLAIM YOUR VACATION!...

Then they go on, on the phone, saying all I am getting for free, and that I can claim it for one year...

In the end they ask me for my address and credit card number to charge me, I was expecting that from the beginning, it was no surprise, I kept asking if I had to pay, to wich they answered NO...

I still find it very strange being on golfreviews...

Let me apologize for my comments. I've seen too many "Golfreviews are a Scam" by first time posters in the last few weeks, I tend to make as much of a joke out of them as I can, kind of like happy hour on golfreviews for me. Without seeing the actual banner, but only the one you linked, and the fact that you only had one post, I found it hard to believe it was anything other than a just another spam thread. I see now that was not your intention, and that I was wrong, so I will say Welcome aboard, and leave the questions about the banner for golf review to answer.

Let me first of all say that I have absolutely no financial ties to Golfreview or any other internet board.
Then, I'd say that an ounce of common sense is needed here. I've seen countless banner ads on the internet that tell me I have "won" something, or all I have to do is answer an absolutely simple multiple choice question and I'll "win" a $50 gift certificate, etc., etc.
Nobody is going to give away anything, and getting something for nothing just doesn't exist on this planet. If you are concerned that there might be fraud involved, that is another matter entirely. Personally, I would never give out my credit card number over the internet to someone who solicited my "business" with a come on ad. You might want to alert your credit card company to be on the lookout for suspicious charges, and review all recent debits. You might even consider changing your account number. Also, I'd contact the board administrator as well. (I'm a moderator on this board, but I'm on vacation at the moment and have relatively little contact with the board while on this trip. You could send a private message to Buddha33 and he could relay the information to the board administration if there is a significant problem.)
Good luck. I hope this lesson in life doesn't prove to be too painful.
