Project X vs. DGS300
Currently playing TT DGS300 was considering a switch to Project X's. Does anyone have any experience with them? What specifically will you notice different with the Project X's vs. DGS300. I have no problem hitting the ball high! Any information would be much appreciated.

I've used both shafts. The main difference I noticed is that the DG S300's were to me a bit smoother feeling. The Project X's really want to be "ground loaded" and are good shafts if you really hit down on the ball and take a significant divot. If you do that they feel great. If you hit a Project X thin, though, they feel very harsh. Dynamic Golds are fine for people who hit down and take substantial divots or people who do a little more sweeping, particularly in their long irons.
The DG's are heavier than the Project X's, which helps me control my tempo and just feels a little more solid in my hands.
Project X's are now available in both .370" parallel and .355" taper. DG's have always been available in either tip configuration.
Project X's play just a bit stiff to flex, but DG's play about on stated flex.
The other difference, obviously, is cost. Project X's cost much more than the DG's.

(Note that the prices for the Project X's are for an 8 shaft set, but the DG's are per shaft and have to be multiplied by 8 to get the price/set.)

I play project X's. I bought new irons with the project X shafts last year so I don't know how dynamic gold's would perform in the same irons.
For me, they seem to keep the ball flight lower. Feel is especially good when you make an aggressive swing.
Sorry, I know this review sucks, but I figured no one else was replying with anything better. The exception of course being dorkman's typical stellar response.

Am I reading that wrong!? $209 for ONE shaft?
"You got a choice. You can stop, or you can start."
"Start?
"Walkin"
"Where?"
"Right back to where you always been... and then stand there... Still... real still... And remember... "

Yes, you are reading that wrong. I can't exactly remember, but last year they were about a $30/club upgrade. That was retail, eBay is much better!!
Honestly, they're probably not worth it. When I bought my clubs, I had picked up some extra remote consulting work and felt like giving myself a present...

What stiffness do you play your x's? I was wondering what was comparable to an S300 some people say 5.5 or 6.0. I swing a 5 iron around 95 mph.
thanks horseballs!!

We're probably pretty similar as far as swingspeeds go. I got mine 6.0, but tempo is also a consideration when dealing with flex. I have a quicker, Nick Price style tempo which would lend itself to stiffer shafts. My previous rifle flighted shafts were also 6.0, can't help with DG S300 comparisons...
If you have a good place to get fitted, I'd recommend that. I use a local place that charges a fee for a full fitting. I like this better than the retailers who provide free fitting because I feel that the info is less "sales driven".

If you like s300 shafts I would suggest the 5.5 shaft is what you want. I put a set of 6.0 rofles in a set a few years ago and they seemed crazy stiff. Waay too stiff for me and I usually have stiif shafts in my irons

Agreed. I've hit Project X 5.5's and DG R300's and S300's, as well as Rifle 5.0's and 5.5's. The Project X 5.5's play a little stiffer than DG S300's, and stiffer than the regular Rifle 5.5's, too, in my opinion. The PX 6.0's must be REALLY stiff, I'd guess.

I have the project x 6.0's and I personally don't find them super stiff.

It all depends on your strength and swing speed what makes a shaft feel "stiff". You'd probably find the shafts that are just right for me too floppy for your tastes.

Well, if the P-X's are more attuned to pounding the ball into the ground they might not be the best opti9on for me, as I tend to pick the ball up fairly cleanly with irons...more of a hair-cut than a divot.
I can't wait for shore leave so I can get me som fukkin' poon-tang.

Yeah; they're probably not your best choice. PX's feel absolutely GREAT when you hit down on them and take a divot (hopefully AFTER striking the ball!!), but if you are more of a sweeper like me, you'd find that if you hit them thin at all they feel very harsh. I much prefer the DG or regular Rifle feel overall.

Why not just get the regular rifles or the Flighted rifles? IMO I dont think the Project x are worth it . What I really like about the rifles is the frequency matching. Get them spined by a good clubmaker and they are about as good an iron shaft as you can buy.

I replaced the S300s with Project X 6.0 in my Mizuno MP-37's. The big difference in my opinion is consistency and feel. The PX shaft feels significantly lighter than the S300s but delivers the stiffness I require. I read posts that say the PX shafts produce a lower ball flight but I have not found this to be entirely true. I can hit it low or very high depending upon what the shot calls for. Additionally, I picked up around 5-10 yards a club with these shafts. I had PX 6.5s in a set of MP-30s a couple of years ago but never fully realized the difference the shaft makes until I had them loaded in my MP-37s. I will use PX shafts until something much better comes along.
I got mine brand new on Ebay for $125(10 shafts total). The same seller is currently selling them in 5.5 and 6.0 frequencies on Ebay. With the Golfsmith ClubAdvantage service program, I had 10 shafts installed with grips(2I-SW) for $24.

Project X's take time
Project X's take some time to get used too. They are stiffer and in my feeling lighter than S300's. I have Bridgestone J36 Cavity Back Black Irons, which are pretty much blades, with Project X 6.0 shafts. I will admit my game was terrible the first couple weeks I had these clubs but ever since then I have been hitting the ball more consistently and with a higher ball flight. It is true about hitting the ball first and hitting down on the ball because hitting one thin with these shafts is terrible.
