Believe it or not.... i've actually played 36 holes with him... pretty cool comparison here, just looking at the braking patterns along with the amount the hips are both moving forward and (extending the spine) into the finish... just a cool video... that is all
You guys look like a couple of synchronized swimmers...why do the stacker's always take these multiple shot videos to show how identical each others swings are?

To me the stack and tilt swing looks stiff and uncomfortable. It's almost as if the player is holding himself back or deliberately trying to control the shot. I don't see any of the players on tour swinging like those two guys in the video.

Two guys...WTF? That's Pinger & Q.

I guess I don't understand your confusion. Yes, one of them is Qtong and there was no way to know that Pingman was the other, since I have never seen him before. Now, even with that being said, me referring to them as "two guys" is accurate and no reason to get upset on your end. If you had a bad round this weekend and are using that to lash out then I understand. I can't say I relate as I almost never have a bad round.

Don't be so sensitive. My tone is always quite warm and charming. I could tell you weren't sure who you were looking at, so I was helping you out.

It's actually to show the differences. Although our timing is pretty similar our swings are very different. This spectrum shows that my legs move too fast on the backswing. But from this camera angle that's pretty much all we can derive from it. But overall, we have very different swings.

I agree you are one charming fellow. I guess my issue with S&T is that it appears to be forced and unnatural. However, I have to admit that I've never worked with a teaching professional and tried it on my own so I'm really just guessing here. The first time I saw a video of Pingman using it I thought it looked fairly stiff and controlled but then again that was on video. Maybe in real life it looks completely different.
Pingman, in that video of you from the side angle, what iron are you hitting? Do you sacrifice any distance with the S&T or have you gained distance? I'm interested because I may give it a try.

That was actually a comment I made to PM as a matter of fact. In real life it looks much better, pretty nice actually. The finish is just a product of what was happening in the swing. It should definitely look shorter than most because the player keeps pressure points 4,5 (armpits) making it a more connected and consistent swing. A lot of players who do stay connected well and still have longer finishes are just adding an extra unnecessary piece to the swing but thats up to them in my opinion.
Those are interesting swings but I would really like to see the ball flights to gauge how good they were. Now I really like Kevin Na's swings. I watched a lot of them yesterday afternoon. Forget Choi, Yang, Wi etc. Na's swing is my favourite Korean swing.

On that day I believe the shot patterns were both mid trajectory draws. I think his went slightly higher....

i'm hitting 7 in both i think... you can ask QTong if i hit it far, but i consider myself to be very adequate i've played quite a lot with tour professionals and ive never been blown away by their distances, usually i'm either by them or right there with them...
I would contest that almost everyone ive taught has GAINED distance due to the fact that it's MUCH MUCH easier to compress the ball everytime... QTong told me that in his life he's never heard the golf ball so compressed than when i hit it on several shots, and he's seen quite a few of the worlds best golfers... now this is not a statement to pat myself on the back at all but more to say the material that we teach is simply put the best in the world...

yeah i would agree with that statement... i just remembering commenting on my trajectory being a little higher than i like to see... (as i like to hit the ball relatively low)

Two shots were the loudest I've ever heard. Not to say that the others weren't loud because they definitely were, but those 2 were ridiculous... I've followed Tiger around the Tavistock, practiced with Keegan Bradley, been to plenty of PGA tour events but nothing sounded close to those two shots. I really can't put it into words. And when it came to accuracy? Well let's say PM shot a 73 and a 70 with more than his fair share of three putts.

What type of sound? When I hit range balls with hard cast clubfaces, sometimes there is a loud click. When I hit them with softer forged heads, the ball just goes silently. When I hit a really solid mid iron shot off firm turf with a high spin ball I will get a buzzing sound sometimes. I imagine this is the sound of high spin. I love to make loud sounds with drivers. The louder the crack, the better the impact. One of my drivers is an 8.5* 905T. The small weight port on the sole came out and that thing is the loudest driver I've ever heard. The brochure says that Titleist put a rubber plug in there to improve "acoustics".

Well I wasn't listening to the sound of impact but I believe he had an 8 iron in his hands playing a B330. And the sound was just the ball cutting through the wind and probably 60 yards out, as odd as it sounds, it sounded like an airplane. Not the motor of course but the whooshing turbulence sound. It was very loud all the way through. I don't think the contact sounded much different just the noise the ball made through the air was insane.

I thought your legs moved too fast on the 5th tee back in Orlando.
I think its time we eased up on Q. You guys are getting worse than AGB on a LRSF swing theory thread.

I'm sure you are a very good golfer and I do not take issue with that. I believe your scores and by that I would get beat most times agaonst you for sure.
BUT... just personally I hate your swing. Why such a short and unnatural follow through?

I'm not qualified to comment on the swing in a technical aspect but this swing always looks to me like somebody trying to punch a low shot out from under a tree.

Over here in The States we call that a knock down shot swing. I assume that those vids were shot in Florida where it is frequently very windy and the low punchy swing with abbreviated follow through produces a lower more boring trajectory that is great for controlling distance both against and with the wind and to minimize the effects of cross-winds. Baddeley seems to have a similar swing lately. I assume that if those two need to hit higher shots on the course say to clear trees that their swings would be a bit different.

I've been told that the sound of my golf ball traveling through the air is similar to the sound of the asteroid in the 1979 megahit movie Meteor, a five-mile wide chunk of Orpheus on a collision course with Earth, with devastating results expected on impact.

The best meteor movie was "Metior Man" starring Robert Townsend. The best airplane movie was "Soul Plane" starring everyone who martters.

i have no problem with what youve said, to each his own...
the finish (as q alluded to) is the product of what happens during the swing... and since the most efficient swings are the ones with the fewest compensatory motions we like for the club to moving around our body in a consistent arc (or circle as we call it)... the easiest way to do this would be to hold pressure under your armpits this is one reason the finish is shortened... it also ensures that the club is behind the hands at impact and post impact for the intended amount of time, so there is little to no chance that he shaft is leaning away from the target at impact..
the braking (stoping early) and re-hinging or overtaking rates is both a way to hit the ball far, and also a technique used to hit certain trajectory windows...
"the braking (stoping early) and re-hinging or overtaking rates is both a way to hit the ball far, and also a technique used to hit certain trajectory windows... "
I'm curious, how do you control clubface closure in speed braking? Also, distance control? It definitely makes you hit the ball with a ton of compression and power, but how do you control that little jumper when your 150yd shot all of a sudden jumps to 155-160? The bigger question though honestly is closure. It was way too timing dependent for me. Killed, or smothered the hell off the planet left.

You'll have to wait for PM to reply to be certain but from my understanding, the braking mechanism is the rehinging rate. You can control trajectory but how soon you rehinge. The later you rehinge, the longer the arc and the lower the ball flight and vice versa. As for jumpers, in my opinion, if you're from the fairway and hit "jumpers" it just might be that you actually just hit it better than you normally do. As for hitting it left it could be a lot of things, the way your pivot works and how you unload your accumulators would determine that. For me, if I stop my pivot too soon it is guaranteed to go left (or swipers).

I would contest that what we teach is one of the least timing dependent motions... im actually on my phone and headed to bed now but I will explain more tomorrow at some point...
How could you forget Flying High? The Caddy Shack of airport movies.

Not to mention the name dropping. However if I were going to have an imaginary practice round with a pro it would be someone a little more high profile, shall we say, than Keegan fukking Bradley.
In defence of the swing, I've tried it in the past and the times I got it right I hit some of the purest golf shots of my life. The compression on the ball and distance was surprising. I just couldn't get it right often enough to go at it full time. If I had time to practice and a pro near me who knew how to teach it I would say S&T is as good a way to swing a golf club as any. Peronally I find the RDB (Ron Del Bario) swing much simpler and easier to replicate. And it also gets great results with a divot just in front of the ball and a compressed ball on every swing. IMO S&T is great, but just too radical and unorhtodox to be able to pick up without a teacher.

I must admit the swing looks really efficient and effortless. Nice work Ping.

To be fair, you are accustomed to hearing the sound of a bladed iron followed by a splash.

All good, looking forward to the explanation. I just had a lot of trouble when it came down to not hitting it left when I tried pivot braking. It was effective when it was on, but when it was off it was bad.

No practice round, just practice. But I agree with you on getting an instructor, too many people try to tackle it by themselves and just don't do it right. I feel it's the same with learning any system, you definitely need an instructor to get the most out of it. For me it's been great working with PM. No more blades into a creek 10 yards in front of me My misses now just deal with curve but contact is usually pretty good and consistent.

Q,
Is that a bit of a chicken wing I see there? Is that the correct for the stack and tilt? No matter, keep that move and you'll have elbow, shoulder, and/or neck problems...

I don't. As a matter of fact I took an enormous ***** this morning. When it reaches the ocean it'll be high tide. I'm concerned about flooding and tsunamis. Like I need another tragedy on my conscience or the *****storm it would create.

Yea that's because I don't get my hip forward and rotated enough. PM actually cleaned that piece up the next day after that video was taken. But... Still a work in progress..
But.... This makes me feel a little better about not doing it correctly right away...
Here's the video of the elbow more cleaned up when PM was in town.

I actually think Qtong has done a good ob getting rid of the chicken wing. It was horrible in his early swing, but I didn't really notice it now. S&T must be good for ridding yourself of a chicken wing.

Did you read what I posted in response to you before? I know that PM is busy so he hasnt had a chance to reply to you. But I am pretty certain what I said is spot on. Lemme know if you have questions. I can forward them to him. But as far as I know he is busy teaching his tour players and hasnt logged on to GR much. Nor has he told me I was wrong in my explanation to you. I started working with him after the whole Orlando thing and it's changed my game. I shot a 78, 73 with him when he came down this last time. He def knows what he is talking about. But let me know if you have questions.... I can help for the most part

Synchronized swinging? Are you phucking kidding me? Synchronized swinging? I take a two or three week hiatus and we are now posting synchronized swinging as a selling point for stack 'n tilt?
Thanks to Lorenzo this act of faggotry did not get posted without being properly criticized, but still . . . . . . . . .

I agree it's time to let up. Q came back, faced the music and has my respect for that. I might even boycott Dave's movie.
won't be necessary, my friend.. it will be released shortly after your death, as originally planned. Now, if you can manage to fake your death like Dorkman did, you will be able to see it with plausible deniability.
