    Need New Golf bag

    http://www.buzzillions.com/reviews/m...ws#readReviews

The Zipper of my old Callay bag (overall still OK to use) is not function any more. Being a stupid research scientist who went to OSU Stillwater OK where SBS is from , I do research about most of things before I buy... So, what would you recommend guys/girls/AC-DC ? Thanks... Seems like Nike bag from this web site has a lot of good reviews and I could get it for $100 shipped from reputable eBay seller

I did a bit of research last year for a bag to replace my Hot Z that I got for Christmas around 1996 or so deciding that I could use a light one wit.h those automatic stand up legs and more compartments than the three provided by the Hot Z. I found very few without club manufacturer logos and chose one in black with Mizuno blue accent panels with silver piping from TGW. I think it was around $49.95. Mrs. Mongrel got it for me for this past Christmas. Ita been good so far. Not to pontificate, but I abhor bags that shout "Taylor" or "Titleist" or "Nike" or whatever and would not carry one nor wear so-labeled apparel unless I was being paid to.

Honestly, I also don't give a sh$$$$t about brand names... I buy good things cheap and that's been my goal. ALL of my cars go for longer than 20 yrs before I throw them out.... My '96 E-320 MB has 120K miles, so I have at least another 150K miles to go yet... I never care for the Nike name, not sure why, but this bag has 14 slots and great reviews. I am going to G.Galaxy for more research today

The basic rule of thumb is: All golf bags suck. All of them are designed and built poorly. Worse than that, they're to blame for most of my bad shots. So to pay anything more than the absolute minimum for one is just dumb.

Because I dislike golf bags so much, I abuse them as much as I can. I particularly like to kick them in the legs. I really don't do it out of anger, it's more like disgust. This leads to my having to replace them frequently.

The best place I've found is Rockbottom Golf. Right now they have several for $30. For that price you can singe them with a lighter whenever you feel like it, or even urinate on them. The downside is they're close-out no-name bags. It's not that I care what brand I'm providing free advertising for, it's that it's much more satisfying kicking or urinating on something that says Ping or Callaway on it. If I could find a Callaway or Ping bag for $20 or less, at that price I'd probably take a dump on it.

If you get e-mails from Rockbottom Golf, they offer free shipping from time to time.

I'm on my second Ogio bag and I'll never buy another brand. Lots of different models and price ranges.

If you're connected with OSU, you have to wear clothes and hat of same color, hat too big for you, and button all your shirts to the top even though it looks dumb. No one will notice the broken zipper on your bag.

I believe that Rickie Fowler started from Oklahoma SU, that's why he wears weird orange color on Sunday. I think he just won his first PGA last week somewhere

If you carry, like I do, its hard to beat the Sun Mountain 3.5 bag with the handle. Maybe a bit pricey but lasts and has a great overall design. I think TGW has them this weekend for $139 with free shipping.

If you dont carry, almost any bag that fits your budget will do.

The golf bag zipper problem. It always seems to be the zipper to the largest compartment in the bag that renders itself useless. This problem has happened to me twice. The first time I bought a brand new Titleist (made by Sun Mountain) and the zipper thingies would just open up in the middle and then eventually it wouldn't zip up at all. I threw it in a grocery store dumpster. That bag was less than a year old and I paid $135 for it. Same thing happened with an Ogio bag from Costco but they let me return it 6 months after I bought it. You've got to love Costco. I don't think the zippers on the expensive bags are any different than the cheap ones. I agree with Zo that it's best just to buy a cheap bag and replace it every two years or so. Costco has good deals on Callaway cart bags...$79 for a good bag.

Pick up a Sun Mountain on closeout or last year models. You can usually pick one up for under a hundred, which is about half price.
It would be hard for me to do without the 14 slots and a putter well. Keeps clubs from getting to beat up, and less noise.

FD... I agree with you on this, I would venture to guess that most if not all zippers are made in China... and yet, you got to love Costco, so easy to return products

12sandwich... yes I am looking for the one with 14 slots as well, my concern is that most of them are not light wt, is it true?

    Thanks guys/girls/AC-DC

I bought our Sony LCD 42 inch at Costco and after 8 months it just wouldn't turn on. They provided a two year warranty, no charge. We called them and they had us contact the Sony concierge service. They sent a new TV to us with a box to package the old one and then they picked that one up. That sure was easy.

I am not sure if Costco is still having this deal: some electronic machine was warranty for life. I bought a portable DVD player, after more than 2 yrs of using with cares, the hinge was broken, I took it back to Costco, they gave me the original $$$ back, no question ask. I bought a better model at Costco for less price... With customer services like that no wonder why Costco is a favorite store of lot of customers

Translation: He bought it this year but it was from another guy who had bought it previously. He used it for 2 rounds but failed to mention that he usually plays 9 holes and doesn't consider those to be "rounds".

I assumed he played it for two rounds, then used it as a litter box.
